I was talking to Lynn Ambrose at the MMSA banquet last month. I wanted to go to the shootout but my gunslinger Doug was busy with a project at work and coulds not take off. Lynn had his car apart getting ready for Florida and could not get it together in time for the Tulsa race. Since both of us had problems he needed a car and I needed a good driver we teamed up. Lynn said, Allen would have said "lets go for it" and that is what we did. I'm sure when we showed up at the Tulsa race , many people were surprised, even in my mind this was an unusual match-up of talent. We do however share the same love of racing just to be racing. We teamed up with AJ Felker the car's builder and my first driver ,Cory Pointer AJ's track man, and Ron and Chris Bonds who also owne an FSC chassis and headed west (Thanks Steve Motsinger for the use of your truck.) Lynn had never driven this car before with or without a wing. With the help of AJ's set up skills and Lynn's driving we were hot out of the box. At the time of the Big race Lynn had less than 15 hot laps total in the car. He started 5th and with-in 7 laps were in the lead not making a single mistake. "IF" there had not been so many cautions, "IF" the white car had not made a 2 abreast restart so many times,"IF" that cop would have let AJ get to the track to pull that car back in line and "IF" my old motor had a few more beans he would have won the darned thing.
Lynn is a jurneyman racer, that in itself is a proud title for anyone and something that requires a lot of work to achieve. Many of you young guys just passing through should take note it has taken years to get to where he is now. He races because he loves it. Many hot shoes start up the ladder and stop racing, missing the real reason to be racing in the first place. If you love it you will get better at it and maybe move up but " don't be in such a hurry," and if you don't get the breaks you can still be doing something you love and can teach something to the young ones coming up. Lynn is one of the truly great minisprint drivers watch him and learn.

Once again thank's Lynn

What DAD failed to mention was how much he helped Chris and I out at the Shootout! Chris spun himself out trying to take the lead in the B-Main and then got collected in a pile of cars and left hanging on the fence. But the whole time we was there. DAD coached Chris and showed him videos of some of the Chili bowl greats.Chris can't wait to go back down and visit and get his car back to race ready. Thanks to guy's like DAD Young shoes like Chris are given the opportunity to get the seat time they need and to learn what they need to improve their skills. Thanks for mentoring my boy. AND what is this about you and a scooter chair at Walmart! LOL!

If your behind Lynn Ambrose waiting on him to make a mistake, you might as well pull up an ottoman and put your feet up because it may never happen! Hes a true wheeler.
