Hello IOW friends,
From the auto racing archives of Rich - Arnold, Missouri
Nolan Johncock wins the 1964 Oswego Speedway Classic for Supermodifieds after a 6 hour rain delay and before an estimated close to 10,000 race fans.
I thought maybe some would like to look at this tid bit of racing history from 1964. I am sure there are some who remember watching Nolan Johncock race, and a few readers on the IOW site may have raced USAC sprints during the same years as Nolan.
Many readers I am sure will know some of the open wheelers who raced this fine day back in 1964.
NOTE: Nolan Johncock was a cousin of veteran, champion and legendary open wheeler Gordon Johncock.
Sadly, Nolan Johncock was fatally injured at Sandusky Speedway at the Sandusky International Cavalcade on October 3, 1971. Nolan aboard #7 was in second place at the time - on the 95th lap of 100 laps.
Have a good day...see you at the races
