It's a slippery slope when a promotor criticizes another promotor. I'm not standing up for the guy, but that seems a little less than classy.

There is no entry fee beyond ASCT membership or temp pass.
I wish your track was running Sat, as I was hoping to finally get to the 'Burg since 2007. Posted via Mobile Device |

All Dave was doing is pointing out the change in tow money from earlier shows....while he did editorialize a bit, I don't see where he was "critical" of the ASCT...do a search on here for ASCT threads. You'll find that they were paying $100 for tow money to cars not making the feature earlier this year.
And Dave's right, IMO, I'd be careful, what with the rubber checks, the four car "exhibition race" that paid $200/car, and all......just sayin' |

This is a report of what happened on the race track at UCS on 8-7-08 from Kevin Eckert's www.openwheeltimes.com. Not here to grind an axe..just report the facts..because some people missed it..
Sprint Cars Race Notes: Christian Wins at Union County by Jim Morrison August 7, 2008 Liberty, Indiana: Kent Christian of Clayton won the 25-lap sprint feature at Union County Speedway on Thursday night. Jeff Bland Jr., was cruising to victory in the sprint feature when he banged wheels with a car he was attempting to lap on the 10th circuit and spun to a stop. Hess inherited the top spot, but Christian was moving up from his seventh place starting position until he passed Hess exiting the second turn on the 20th lap to claim the victory. Bland charged back through the field to claim third from Shuman late in the race. Heat 1) Jeff Bland Jr, Mike Hess, Blake Fitzpatrick, Kent Christian, Matt Westfall, Cameran McGahan, Travis Hery (flipped) Heat 2) Sammy Imel, Casey Shuman, Joss Moffatt, Brandon Whited, Tony Main, Caleb Armstrong, Jim Gardner A-main) 1 Kent Christian 1c, 2 Mike Hess 51. 3 Jeff Bland 21, 4 Casey Shuman, 5 Caleb Armstrong, 6 Matt Westfall 54, 7 Brandon Whited, 8 Jim Gardner, 9 Tony Main 74, 10 Blake Fitzpatrick 10, 11 Sammy Imel 35, 12 Joss Moffatt 5J, 13 Cameron McGahan 2. 410nw MIDGETS Race Notes: Buckwalter Win at Union County by Jim Morrison August 7, 2008 Liberty, Indiana: Steve Buckwalter of Royersford, Pennsylvania won the midget feature at Union County Speedway on Thursday night. Buckwalter led all 30 laps but the race for second was hard fought as Robert Ballou, Mike Hess and Matt Westfall battled. Hess claimed second, Ballou third, Westfall fourth and Christian fifth from 12th. The midget portion of the program was originally scheduled as the second round of USAC Indiana Midget Week but safety concerns with the track prompted the club to not sanction the event. Many teams opted to leave without turning a lap. Race promoter Tony Barhorst proceeded with the racing, paying the midget drivers the same prize money as if it were a USAC points paying event of Indiana Midget Week. Fourteen midgets remained in the pits to compete and 14 started the feature. Heat 1) Robert Ballou, Steve Buckwalter, Dakoda Armstrong, Casey Shuman. DNS Matt Westfrall, Ryan Criswell, Levi Jones Heat 2) Thomas Meseraull, Kellen Conover, Mike Hess, Rex Norris III, Kent Schmidt, Kent Christian, James Sweeney A-main (30 laps) 1 Steve Buckwalter 0, 2 Mike Hess (Sandy 16), 3 Robert Ballou (Felker 37), 4 Matt Westfall (Bordner 14), 5 Kent Christian, 6 Dakoda Armstrong 7a, 7 Kent Schmidt 5k, 8 Rex Norris III 63, 9 James Sweeney (Meents 4), 10 Dustin Morgan (Yeley 1h), 11 Casey Shuman (Ellis 73), 12 Thomas Meseraull (Bush 2b), 13 Kellen Conover 76 (flipped) Midgets
