Just a reminder that the Click it or Ticket campaign begins today. From what I've been told, staties and county brownies have been pretty thick in south-central Indiana. Just a heads up so race fans don't find themselves with an extra expense at night's end!
Click it or Ticket
Evansville - Lieutenant Dennis Marshall, Commander of the Evansville District, has announced troopers will be participating in the upcoming Click it or Ticket mobilization project. This national mobilization begins May 21st and continues over the Memorial Day holiday period and is supported by thousands of law enforcement agencies throughout the country. Special patrols will be conducted day and night throughout the enforcement period. Troopers will target unrestrained motorists on Hoosier roadways through June 6.
"High-visibility enforcement such as that involved during Click It or Ticket has been credited with increasing the national seat belt usage rate from 58 percent in 1994 to an observed usage rate of 84 percent in 2009," said Indiana ******** Justice Institute (ICJI) Executive Director, T. Neil Moore. "In Indiana, we reached an observed seat belt usage rate of 92.6 percent in 2009 - the highest in our state's history," said Moore.
Local motorists should be prepared to see more troopers on the roads during this 17-day period. Funding for this initiative is supported by Federal Highway Safety funding allocated from the Traffic Safety Division of the Indiana ******** Justice Institute which will allow troopers to work overtime targeting restraint violations as well as impaired driving, speeding, and other aggressive driving behavior which lead to serious crashes. Special patrols are going to be taking place around the clock, and if troopers find you on the road unbuckled at any time, you can expect to get a ticket. No excuses and no exceptions.
