As I sit here.... watching Nascar's "Sprint" Cup practice on Speedtv... the one thing that really strikes me.... They really do a good job of putting the "hype" into NASCAR.
While most us hate some of the pathetic hype... It sure makes them a ton of cash and generates alot more "new" fans.

I turned it off after a few seconds and switched to Sirius satellite music on the boob tube. Allman Brothers are a much better choice.

Did you catch the promo for short track racing? Some local short track racers and then Carl Edwards encouraging fans to go to the roots. Can you imaging what USAC could do with a promotional campaign in which Schrader, Gordon, Stewart, Newman, and all of the others who started in USAC were put on local promotions saying "I learned my racing skills in USAC. Come to the sprint and/or midget race at X speedway Saturday night to see great racing, established stars like (Darland, Jones, etc) and up and coming youngsters." OK, I am not an ad professional, but I hope you get the idea. Perhaps USAC could start pulling in those new fans we all talk about the need for.

there is a story on Kokomo Speedway and Tony Stewart on Nascar.com if anybody is interested. Not a great write up but worth looking at.

Carl Edwards said he was going to Volusia tonight to substitute for UMP Modified racer Steve Arpin due to Arpin severely burning himself the other night.
Good to hear some short track talk on Speed
