ASCS Southwest Round Two Saturday at USA Raceway

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (March 29, 2010) – The winged forces of the American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region are set for 2010 championship Round Two this Saturday night with the series taking to Tucson’s USA Raceway.

The ASCS Southwest Region kicked off its third season of competition just a couple of weekends ago with a familiar face in victory lane, as two-time and reigning champion Rick Ziehl of Las Cruces, NM, took top honors.

Although Ziehl has finished among the top ten in 18 of the last 19 ASCS Southwest feature events, it was only his third series feature win as he has broken into victory lane just once over each of the past two seasons.

Ziehl posted one win in 2008 when he bested Shawn Sander by 22 points for the title and then added a second win last year while edging Ben Gregg by just seven points to make it back-to-back championships.

Breaking out of the gates quickly in 2010, Ziehl holds the early lead over Calvin Landis, an Arizona native that has called Iowa home in recent years. R.J. Johnson, John Gaston and Kaylene Verville round out the balance of the current top five in ASCS Southwest points, with the rest of the top ten including Mike Martin, Steve Stone, Perry McMillin, Cole Boyd and Ronnie Clark.

Joining the Wing Sprint cars on the April 3rd card will be a full field of SCRA Factory Stocks, X-Mods, Modlites and Hornets. General admission tickets will go on sale at 4pm for only $15, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.

Season and Suite Access Passes will allow race fans to get all the action at an unheard of low cost. Season Passes are on sale for only $249 and $199 for Seniors, Students and Military thus dropping admission prices to under $9 per event. Suite Access Passes will allow race fans the opportunity to enjoy the races from USA Raceway’s VIP Suite. Enjoy the races in luxury! Suite Access Passes are now on sale for only $399

There will be an opportunity for race fans to get a preview of the 2010 racers at an open practice slated for March 26th. The festivities will kick off at 6:00pm with grandstand admission free for all those who want a sneak preview
