As most of you know the racing "promoters" at Angel Park (being the local volunteer firemen's organization) have issued a press release stating there will no longer be Badger sanctioned midget racing at the track. The Firemen announced they will form a new sanction known as the Angell Park Speedway Auto Racing Association (APSARA).
In my opinion this will be a tragic loss to the midget racing community if the Firemen are not successful and this track is lost as the longest running and most historic midget venue in the country. I don't know the whats and whys of how this all came about but I know my Sunday nights will not be the same. Midget racing at Sun Prairie in my mind is Badger racing. If you share my concerns I urge you to drop a handwritten letter to the President of the Sun Prairie Fire Department urging him and his fellow elected officers to intervene with the Firemen's group running the Park. Ask the elected officers to insure that further negotiations take place and that all reasonable options be explored without regard to personalities or the like. Both groups have given us fans too much over the years for us not to let the board hear our concerns personally. If we can get the board to direct that meaningful negotiations be reopened there is still a chance to see a great Badger show every Sunday this summer. It sure would not hurt to thank the Firemen for all they have put into this endeavor over the years.
Keep in mind that without Badger as a sanction the very real possibility exists that major track sponsorship will be lost, fan base will diminish, Badger will run elsewhere, USAC will no longer visit the Park and the new ASPARA sanction will never mature.
If you share these concerns send a letter to:

Are you so sure it's the Fireman's fault and not Badger's?
Maybe you should be urging people to write to both.
