I thought this was well worth mentioning that Lou Palmer passed away over the weekend. Lou worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network and eventually became the Voice of the Indianapolis 500. On Speedway practice days I would anxiously await his very detailed reports which would come twice every hour that the track was open for practice. He was the first one to tell me of Tom Sneva's 200+ qualification laps, the first to tell of Jan Opperman's ride with Vel's Parnelli Jones and the first time I heard the name Lynn Reid was also from Lou.

Lou had a great speaking voice, was one of the best at what he did and I will miss him.

I can remember peddling my bike home from school and tuning in WIBC to hear Lou's practice updates during the month of May. A true professionals who will definitely be missed...:crying:

Bruce - Just wondering - is that the Purdy #2 in your avatar? Seems to me I saw Ron Lux drive that car a long time ago at Heidelberg Raceway in Pittsburgh, PA.

I was very sad to hear this. I remember listening to Lou on the IMS network, as well as, when he was anchor for the CART broadcasts in the 90

I grew up listening to Lou Palmer's updates from the track every day in May. Remember when the entire month of May meant something? Lou was great.
