After driving Modifieds and Late Models Shane Cockrum has settled in on piloting a Midget. Running with the Power I series this year Shane was still only in his 10th race.
Shane takes the Cheese Works on a good ride in the 6th heat at Kemper Arena Saturday night. With some heavy hitters in his heat, Jerry Coon's jr. from the midget ranks, Daryn Pittman World of Outlaws, Terry McCarl Knoxville past champion, and Greg Luckert local hot shoe and top five finisher the night before in the Bull Ring.
Tighten down your belts, hold on tight, look left and right, the action is nonstop as Shane Cockrum trys to make the A-Main At The Bull Ring. Enjoy.
Congratulations to Shane for his great run at Kemper Arena.
Ask him if he still wants to trade seats with a sprint car some night.
I am betting the answer will be, "Hell yeah, anytime".
Shane, your a class act. Congrats on a great finish at Kemper. We've pitted next to you at several POWRi shows and could see an emerging wheel man. Keep up the good work. Your going to be some one to watch out for this coming season
It's cool you're gettin' to follow in your dad's footsteps. I saw the picture of the gold car on your myspace page, it brought back some fond memories. I recently ran across a photo of Cliff in the '77 Winternationals, B/W picture asphalt car. I still can see him in my mind blowin' down the back straight at the old Williamson County Fairground track. Funny, all the tracks I ever saw him run, or anyone else for that matter, that track is etched in my brain. I feel lucky to have grown up in the midwest and have seen so many dirt track legends, drivers and car owners.

I agree 100%. If Shane's even half as good as Cliff was, he'll be awful good and will be a great addition to the Illinois midget scene. I was at Haubstadt so many times in the 70's, and that guy was anybody's match, on any given night, in those days. And that's really saying something, considering the all-time greats that you had to beat, to take home a trophy, at that place, in that era.
