$85,000+ City Vending November Sprint Shootout 11/13-14

8/11/09, DarinShort.com. Five weeks after the $85,000 Cowtown Sprint Nationals October 9-10, Cowtown Speedway wrap up the 2009 racing season with the 3rd annual November Sprint Shootout presented by City Vending and the ASCS2 Series Finale presented by Eagle Chassis to be held on November 13-14, 2009.

Want more action? The November Sprint Shootout (NSS) in 2007 and 2008 left fans screaming "we want more!" So it's been decided. You're going to get what you asked for:

Even more racing and more money is on the line for the NSS. Twin (or Triple) 25's for the sprint cars will kick off the weekend's action in the Friday night program. If there are 46+ sprints in the pits Friday (as was the case in 2008), Triple 25's will be run. All sprint cars in the pits will make an 'A' feature that night, each paying $1,000 to win with payback for every starting position. And the popular ASCS passing points system will go into effect on Friday night, which will determine Saturday night's line-ups.

Saturday's last chance races will fill the balance of the field for the 35-lap November Sprint Shootout, with the winner picking up a cool $7,000 (up from $5000 in 2008); with 2nd paying $4000, 3rd $3000, 4th $2000, and down to $500 to start (24th, up from $400 to start in 2008). All non-qualifiers Saturday night will receive at least $100.

More NSS Invaders? Last year's NSS saw several regional and national 'invaders' converging upon Cowtown Speedway. With no major winged sprint race scheduled in the region, it's possible that several traveling teams will take to the ¼ mile high banks of Cowtown Arkansas's Tim Crawley took home the win, with Kansas's Tony Bruce Jr. coming in second and Louisiana's Jason Johnson finished in third.

Driver Pre-registration for Pit Parking Requests is Required. As was the case in 2008, driver pre-entry on the track website is highly recommended, as it will reserve your parking space in the pit area. A limited amount of concrete padded spaces are available, so if you need one, you should register as soon as possible. Phone-in entries and phone-in parking requests will not be taken by unregistered drivers. Pre-entry is requested by November 8th, but if you have specific parking requests, you will want to enter as soon as possible; as we are expecting well over 200 cars total for the weekend. (Over 250 cars were in the pits at the last Cowtown show that had this same format.)

FOUR Great Divisions Join the NSS action. Joining the sprint cars will be the exciting full-blown Cowtown Modifieds and the local's favorite, Limited Modifieds. Their format will be heats and qualifiers on Friday, and non-qualifier races and feature races on Saturday. The Modifieds will pay $2,000 to win and the Limited Modifieds pay $1,500 to win (up from $1,000 to win in 2008). Rules and complete payback are posted at the track website.

But that's not all. The ASCS2 divisions of the Winged Outlaw Multi's and the Non-Winged 600's will round out their season with the ASCS2 Series Finale presented by Eagle Chassis. The format will be the same as the modifieds, with heats and qualifiers on Friday and non-qualifier and feature races on Saturday. Each feature winner will take home $2,000. For division rules, click www.ASCS2racing.com for more information.

New Earlier Start Times in 2009. The city of Kennedale enforces a midnight curfew, and all racing must be completed by then. Friday night, the pits will now open at 3pm, with hot laps at 5:30 and racing starts at 6:00pm sharp – so make sure to arrive early! And on Saturday, the pits will open at 1:00pm, with hot laps at 3:30 and the first green flag drops at 4:00pm.

Save $10 by purchasing advance 2-day tickets. Fans can save $10 by purchasing their tickets online at www.CowtownSpeedway.com in advance (through November 12th - just one day before the race), as 2-day adult grandstand pass will cost just $35. Tickets will be available at the gate on race night for $20 on Friday and $25 on Saturday. Youth and child tickets will remain at just $5 and $2 on each night.

Please visit www.CowtownSpeedway.com to view the complete NSS event flyer, driver pre-registration, online ticket sales and for more information. You won't want to miss this season-ending event, as last year's event kept fans buzzing all winter long. Follow this link www.darinshort.com/NSS08.html for a recap, pictures and video clips of the 2008 NSS.

Travel & Weather tips for the NSS. There are two fly-in options: DFW International (services all major gateways) and Dallas Love Field (includes Southwest airlines and generally more 'regional' flights). For flight options, www.Travelocity.com is a great source of information. Their 'Last Minute Packages' offers excellent low-priced options that include flights, hotels and car rentals.

November weather trends usually have highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. For the latest in Cowtown weather, there is a link on the home page of the track website.

Want more action? Get it at the November Sprint Shootout! This is the season-ending event at Cowtown, and we look forward to building this event each and every year, to give race teams and fans what they want most: more!

$85K November Sprint Shootout Weekend Grows A Day Due To Topless 100

Kennedale TX (10/22/09) by DarinShort.com. When Mother Nature through a monkey wrench into the Cowtown Sprint Nationals finale, it created a new twist to the 3rd Annual $85,000 November Sprint Shootout (NSS) presented by City Vending and the ASCS2 Series finale presented by Eagle Chassis. The NSS is set for November 13-14th at Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale TX.

That twist is the addition of "Fan Appreciation Night at the Topless 100" held on November 12th and the elimination of practice night for the NSS, which was originally set for the same night. So in other words, November 12th will be the conclusion of the October 11th events.

This night includes two Limited Modified qualifiers, and all three championship features: The Topless 100 for Modifieds, the 40-lap Topless Limited Modified Championships and the 30-lap Winged 600's Championships. No new race entries will be allowed, and drivers not previously set in the remaining qualifying grid are not allowed to compete.

Grandstand tickets for Fan Appreciation Night at the Topless 100 on November 12th are $0.00. That is not a misprint. Ticket prices for grandstand admission on November 12th are zero dollars for all age groups, regardless if you were in the grandstands on October 11th or not.

So, grab your in-laws, outlaws, outcasts, neighbors, foes, family and friends and bring them out to Cowtown for a night of great racing action…courtesy of Mother Nature. And we shouldn't have to worry about weather that night, as she certainly wouldn't rainout her own event.

Each competing team that is pre-qualified for this event on November 12th will be assigned six pit passes for that evening's event at no charge. The track has a list of those drivers and teams will sign in by car number to receive their November 12th pit passes upon arrival that evening.

All events on November 12th will be paying the complete advertised purse set for October 11th ($2000 to win Topless Modifieds and $1500 each to win the Topless Limiteds and Winged 600's.).

Pit gates will open at 5pm and grandstands will open at 6pm. Hot laps will be at 6:30pm and races at 7pm sharp. Those that had purchased reserved seats for October 11th will still have access to the reserved section from that event on November 12th.

Any driver that is qualified for the November 12th program (the drivers of the two Limited Modified last chance qualifiers and all drivers in the Topless 100, Topless Limited Modified and Winged 600's) but cannot return to compete on November 12th can receive the advertised event starting money payback by notifying the track by email only, at CowtownSpeedway@yahoo.com on or before October 31st.

Those drivers not available to return will then have their payback sent to them the following week by mail and their names will be removed from the November 12th line up and free pit pass list.

Again, no additional drivers or starting positions will be filled on the November 12th event. Each of the two Limited Modified last chance qualifiers will advance six cars to the feature starting field, regardless of any 'no-shows' for the November 12th event; as those drivers already opted to take their starting money instead of returning, so the total purse will remain the same regardless.

Race fans and teams will be rewarded for their patience, understanding and love of racing with the running of the Fan Appreciation Night at the Topless 100 on November 12th.

This event also concludes the www.SouthernMonthOfMoney.com 5-race sprint schedule.

As was the case with the Cowtown Sprint Nationals, drivers of all race divisions are urged to pre-enter online (only) by November 7th, as that guarantees your race hauler a reserved parking space in the pit area. Pit spaces will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Phone-in registrations are not accepted.

Over $10,000 has been added to the 2009 NSS purse, without any increased ticket price, pit pass price or entry fees. Complete November Sprint Shootout event details can be found at www.CowtownSpeedway.com as well as advance ticket information, pre-entering and more.

Don't miss the final weekend of racing for 2009 at Cowtown Speedway with the "Holy Grail of Open Wheel Racing" with the running of the November 12th Fan Appreciation Night at the Topless 100 and the November 13-14th November Sprint Shootout; featuring $7000 to win the Sprint finale. $2000 will be going to each of winners of the ASCS2 Series division's finale presented by Eagle Chassis; $2000 to win Modifieds and $1500 to win Limited Modifieds at the Fastest Li'l Dirt Track In Texas – Cowtown Speedway!

Thanks again to the promoters and sponsors for putting this show together. Free races? What could be better than that?

There is still quite a list of drivers yet to register...upwards of 20 (as was the case in '08, over 20 drivers waited until race day to enter), but here's the UNOFFICIAL entry list as of Thursday just to give you an idea...again I only see the payment side (which a lot of times is not from the driver), so some of these may change by race time:

Sean Jones took the lead in the Topless 100 with around 10 laps to go, then took the lead midway in the Topless Limited Modified 40 lap feature to clean up at Cowtown Speedway to the tune of $3,500 as the rain delayed conclusion of the Cowtown Sprint Nationals from October finished tonight on November 12th.

A great turnout of fans were treated to 'Fan Appreciation Night' and the rare Thursday night show kicked off promptly at 7pm and all 210 laps of feature races were completed by 9:15pm.

Friday November 13th is the opening night of the $86,000 November Sprint Shootout presented by City Vending and the ASCS2 Series Finale presented by Eagle Chassis. Well over 200 cars will be on hand from as far away as Washington, California, Iowa, Illinois, Colorado and all points in between.

Hot laps start early on Friday, at 5:30pm, with racing at 6. Triple 25 lap features for the sprint cars highlight the night with full qualifying in the modifieds, limited modifieds, Winged Outlaw Multi's and Non-Winged 600's.

The Friday night show will also reward the first 1300 fans with free event tickets to the upcoming Texas Winter Nationals at Houston Raceway on December 4th and 5th; a value of $30 each.

Saturday's championship event at Cowtown fires off with hot laps at 3:30pm and racing at 4. $7,000 awaits the winner of the 35-lap sprint feature, with $2,000 going to the winners of the modified, Winged Outlaw Multi's and Non-Winged 600s; while $1500 will go to the limited modified winner.

For complete event details, please visit www.CowtownSpeedway.com and full results from the November 12th program will be posted there when available.

Thursday notes continued...

-410 touring sprint driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. qualified well up in the Topless 100 order and ran in the top four of the feature race until a lapped car crossed the track right in front of him and another car causing a collision relegating Hafertepe to rejoin the field in 15th, which also coincided with the mandatory red flag on around lap 55. Hafertepe would then pick off cars on the fast 1/4 mile track and would battle all the way up to 3rd place runner Tom Lorenz (owner of Smiley's Racing) but would slide off the track on the last corner to finish 4th. Fellow sprint driver George White would recover from an shredding a RR tire early in the event to come home in the 5th.

-In the Winged 600's 30-lap championships, normally when the sprint drivers invade their big races, the 600 drivers don't have any problem holding their own. In a rare sprint regular 1-2 run away, 2009 ASCS regional sprint champion Aaron Reutzel was five laps from collecting the $1500 win when mechanical woes would end his brilliant run with Cowtown sprint regular Justin Melton taking the big win.

Don Cook with the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram was once again on hand at Cowtown last night and captured some great pictures as well as a 5-minute recap video of the night's racing action.

Thanks to Don and The S-T for their support of racing at Cowtown. Here's the link:

http://startelegramsports.typepad.com/motorsports/

(note that the video is hi-res enough that if you click on HQ after you start the video, it will upload in higher quality, then hit the 'full screen' button next to it, that allows for excellent viewing. Depending on your download speed, you may have to hit pause after it starts to download, and wait for the play bar to fill in with light pink, then hit the play button again.)
