RAIN FORCES TRI-CITY PRACTICE CANCELLATION

Officials of USAC, Powri and Tri-City Speedway have announced cancellation of Wednesday night's scheduled open practice session at the Pontoon Beach, Ill. track due to rain and wet grounds.

Weather conditions and forecasts wll continue to be monitored and further updates regarding the status of this week's DuPont "Gold Crown Midget Nationals" will be issued on Wednesday.

"Obviously we are concerned with the weather forecasts," says USAC VP/Race Operations Jason Smith. "We realize this is a major event on the 2009 calendar and will work closely with the race organizers at Tri-City to try to conduct this event if weather permits, while keeping the best interests of all concerned parties at the forefront."

The three-day event at Tri-City offers $15,000 to Saturday night's feature winner and carries valuable points toward the 2009 USAC, Powri and USAC/SMRS Championships.

Please consult the USAC website at www.usacracing.com for the latest updated event information regarding the races at Tri-City Speedway and the associated USAC .25 Midget events at Gateway International Raceway.

this isn't making it sound like canellation is a possibility is it? A two day show, even a Sat and Sun show is better than nothing

It's not raining there now, and weather.com says sunny with 0% chance for tomorrow (practice day) That doesn't make sense

Please don't let USAC screw this up. Their recent history ie Terre Haute last month shows they can screw up a one car parade. POWRI and Tri-City are class orginazations but USUC is questionable.

I was told Mr. Gundaker wanted to take tomorrow to make sure the track is ready to go for Thursday, because it has received a lot of water. My source mentioned nothing about a USAC conspiracy theory to sabotage their own event.

Very nice for early notice! Thanks to all involvled...no way I'd be able to make that session anyway, but good to know we would not missing anything! How about an updated entry list? Still the same as the one from the 28th?
