Hmmmm...Seems to me that Vermilion County Speedway started out the exact same way at the beginning of the year. I think I'll just sit along the sidelines and wait for the other shoe to drop. And I believe it will.......

And that it might, sir (or madame). You remind me that I should have added that, in deals like these, often something is lost when something else is gained. Sad to say, for now, Vermilion County has lost, but we shall see as you say. You have to remember that I'm looking at this from a purely Hoosier perspective. LPS has been a part of the Saturday night/open wheel/Hoosier scene for too long to let it go away. My buddy Dave and I had planned on going to VCS earlier this year and it didn't work out. From what little I know, it appears that Mr. Spiker acted right away to make a move that he's been wanting to make for some time. Perhaps having both tracks spread the man too thin. Perhaps another will step forward.

No matter what the circumstances, a race track that is closed should not be celebrated. For our cousins in Illinois, let's hope that VCS stays open for a long time to come.

(Paging Mr. Spiker, etc.)

I would just like to say that everyone, from the guy who took my money at the pit gate to the lady who paid me at the end of the night was just as polite and curtious as they could be. Every oficial and all the staff that ran the show was super nice. I also thought it was neat how the pit oficial came and told us we were next up.

Thanks to all the push truck drivers too, they worked hard all night.

The track itself needs someone to work it that knows what there doing. This is a fun place to race.

Dave its been neglected so long that its gonna take awhile to fix. I think if by the middle of next year that surface is going to be a lot better than it is now, at least I hope so!

as far as the track goes the sat they pushed the tires up and every one ran the top in the track was nice they just moved them back down a little to late for the mod feature it was slick. I think if they did that again move the tires up for sprints and mods on hot laps and back down for super stocks and bombers. but thats my opinion

According to at least one poster on this board, sitting along the sidelines is what led to the shutdown of VCS. I intend to do my part to keep LPS operating. I've been there the past four weeks and have seen not only many improvements in the operation, but some good racing. It's a dirt track. If you want pavement, go to Salem or Winchester. I'm only sitting in the stands, but it appears that the track is getting better each week. It certainly was racy last week with the 57 coming from the back to the front. I guess he was able to negotiate the wall..er, cushion better than most. They'll get it. We drove the 150 miles RT to Danville several times earlier this year. Come on over and enjoy the last part of the season at LPS.
