A big thanks to Dave Merritt

Dave,
I'm sure you'd rather I not draw attention to this, however, this, to me is a great example of how great the racing community really is. I've known for a while who Dave Merritt is as an amazing photographer in the sport. However, I met him for the first time on Saturday at LPS. He was a great guy to talk to and a true gentlemen of the sport. I know this is a small thing, but as I'd never met him before today, Dave was more than happy to allow me to borrow a flash battery tonight. Might not sound like too much, but I'm the track photographer at LPS and I was out of professional flash batteries and he more or less let me take his back-up. Such a kind act and a true testament to the great folks in the sport. Again, thank you Dave and I'm sure this message will find many people who will attest to how much you support sprint car racing!!

Dave is one of those kind of guys the sport needs more of. Anytime I have had a question or needed advice Dave has been very helpful. I shoot Canon stuff and Dave - Nikon.... still if I ever needed something he is quick to lend a hand or do whatever he can. I know a lot of the pros at the various tracks I have been to.... they are all nice and helpful. Dave is the one who I see is consistently the first one to help anyone in need.

And yes he is a damn good photographer. He even takes a hit by 5lb chunks of mud and still shoots better than I ever will!

Dave is first class! I am just disappointed that I missed seeing him at the track.

Dave is a great photographer and a great guy. I am always jealous of his talent, as his work is second to none. One of those photographers who help you strive to be better. I am also jealous of all you Hoosiers who can see great open wheel racing three to four nights a week.

I don't know about all that... I do know that one time I heard a guy say that he saw Dave kick a puppy.... And another time I heard he saw a little old lady crossing the road and he actually sped up. I'm not sure you can trust him.
