More than a cup of coffee but less than the national debt.

I just think it is funny how all the wonder kids get these "developmental deals". I have personal talked to two such dads of wonder kids who ran out of money and the deals just some how went away. Come be real Dakota is a good looking young man with good backing. I guessing he looks the part. He has not won hardly any thing. I would like to see him in a typical "weekly" mid budget team car and crew to see how he does. Its strange how he always has great cars and teams and has been just slightly better than average. I am not a Dakota hater at all, I have talked to him and he is a very nice kid.

I tend not to be political correct in my thoughts. Also on that matter attention NASCRAP get rid of all the but kissing and let the 43 fastest car race.... Last time I checked is was called a race not a fashion show / frat party or parade.

PS: If any "kid" should have a Penske development deal I vote for Cole Whitt

I can think of 20 drivers more deserving of this deal in sprints and midgets. We all know who they are and we all know this is about $. The pressure is now on you Mr Armstrong, don't screw it up for the drivers who have dusted your butt the last 2 yrs. We do not want nascar owners to get a bad impression of what quality drivers we have. I want you to succeed so another opportunity will come for other deserving drivers.

So what, if anything productive has come from this thread? (1) I daresay that only a very few people on the board have any real idea of what the terms of this contract were - that is between the Armstrong family and Tim Cindric and the principals at Penske Racing. (2) Near as I can tell Dakoda is a good kid and comes from a great family. (3) He has won a championship and has worked hard at his craft. (4) Maybe the family did something to help him - big deal - I have done everything that I could do to help my 2 kids be successful - and most of the parents on this board have done the same (5) If you think the world is a total meritocracy - get ready to get a sobbering lesson. Most people have worked for a boss they were sure they were smarter than. Most have watched a total zero get the girl or guy you were interested in. Most have watched total suck-up worthless jerks get promoted and raises they didn'ty deserve. Racing isn't a meritocracy either - never has been - never will be. If there was real karma in life Dave Darland would be starting his 15th Indy 500 and Milka would be doing a fashion shoot in Brazil. Yet, the fact that Dave didn't get the break he deserved isn't Milka's fault - and Milka shouldn't be badmouthed because she seized an opportunity. What do you say we drop the bitter beer face and just be happy that one of our own has got a chance. And by the way - if anyone here has been around Roger Penske - guess what - either Dakoda performs or he doesn't - and performance means the entire package of on and off the track.

Unlike some on here I have no problem with Dakota getting a chance with penske. he has always been an excellent pavement shoe and has worked hard to get a few shots in a tin top. My question is what happened to Billy Wease after he went to Penske. its almost like he dropped off the face of the earth. Now I admit I dont pay alot of attention to the different tin top series but did Billy really get a shot? Will the same thing happen to Dakota?
