MIDWEST ALLSTAR SPRINT CARS VISIT BLOOMINGTON SPEEDWAY ON AUGUST 21st FOR JD BYRIDER NIGHT AT THE RACES
By: Chris Nunn

Bloomington, IN - August 17, 2009 - For one night only in 2009, Winged Sprint Car fans will have their night in the sun, as the O'Reilly Midwest All Star Sprint Series rolls into town for a $2,000 to win event on JD Byrider Night at the Races. Jerrod Hull currently leads the MASS Series point’s standings going into this weekend’s event, after a two night swing through Tennessee. Fans familiar with the city of Bloomington will recognize a name familiar with the Speedway. KINSER. Kody Kinser, son of Kelly Kinser, will be in action with the MASS Series, as he comes into the action fifth in points. In the previous visit of the Midwest All Stars, Danny Smith piloted his retrofitted Kenny Rogers/Gambler decaled machine to a convincing win over Jeff Bland, Jr. Along with the Midwest All Stars, the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stocks and O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modifieds will be in action for $600 to win and $700 to win respectively. The O'Reilly Midwest All Stars were created to re-grow winged sprint car racing in the Illinois, Missouri, and general Midwest area. This is the third season for the MASS Series, with races paying $2,000 to win, and a couple of $5,000 to win shows sprinkled in.

In previous action at the Bloomington Speedway on August 14th, Brady Short took the lead on lap nine of the main event and picked up his sixth feature win of the season in the Safety Kleen Sprint Car division. Completing the top five were Ricky Williams, Jeff Bland, Jr., Ethan Barrow, and Casey Shuman. In the O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified division, Clint DeMoss scored his first win of the season at the track, getting underneath Matt Bex late in the race. Kent Robinson finished second, with Bex third, Josh Eads fourth, and Lee Hobbs rounding out the top five. The Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock main event was a thriller, as Chris Hillman utilized lapped traffic to his advantage, moving around Alan Magner after a side by side duel for the victory. The win was Hillman's first of the season at the track. Rounding out the top five were Magner, Troy Clark, Roy Bruce, Jr., and Gerald Todd.

Current Bloomington Speedway points in the Safety Kleen Sprint Car division shows Brady Short with a 44 point advantage over Jeff Bland, Jr., as the duo continue to dominate the standings. Ethan Barrow sits third, 145 points behind Short. Ty Deckard is fourth in the standings, with Danny Holtsclaw moved into the top five and sits 182 markers behind Short. Kent Robinson continues to lead the O'Neal Wood Products UMP Modified points, with a 21 point advantage over Friday night’s winner, Clint DeMoss. Josh Eads is 34 points behind Robinson in third place John DeMoss and Matt Bex round out the top five, as they are 104 and 147 points behind respectively. The closest battle continues to be in the Tire and Wheel Center UMP Super Stock division, as only nine points separates the top three. Brad Cummings holds a scant seven point advantage over Troy Clark, while Clayton Perry only sits two points behind Clark in third. Jack Frye sits fourth, 40 points behind Cummings. Lee Hobbs completes the top five, 57 points in arrears.

I've been to this show the last two years. Bland's run with a wing both times. He's pretty good with the ol crutch on top. There's been 6-10 guys, maybe more, that usually run wingless that give it a shot. The Midwest All Stars only have like 6 guys that run with them full time. There will be a lot of local support. Each year they had a full show. Maybe 30 cars.
