USA Raceway Brings Back Midgets and Goes Topless

Tucson, Arizona (August 7th, 2009) – Midgets will return to the super fast USA Raceway on August 29th for the first open competition Midget race of 2009. The Fontana Automotive “Midget Open” will be joined by the first ever appearance of the “Topless” Ump West Barnett Harley Davidson Modifieds.

“The July 4th Midget show was and excellent race and really gives us something to build on” commented Benji Lyons of USA Raceway “We are working on more shows and are hoping that the August show is a great success”

RJ Johnson, who won the July 4th Midget feature, will return with his high powered Fontana Rhino looking to grab his second victory and the $1000 prize. Johnson also won the Buddy Taylor Memorial and seems to be the guy to beat in the midget ranks.

He will not be without competition as several drivers have already committed to the August 29th date including the very potent abc motorsports entry of Nathan High. A full field of Midgets are expected to take part in the first Fontana Automotive “Midget Open” Presented By abcmotorsports.com - Allstate Utility Construction - Tenair Corporation.

The Barnett Harley Davidson UMP West Modifieds will strip down and go topless for the special event. This will be the first time the Modifieds will be exposed at the track.

“We are always trying to think of new things for our fans to see” said Lyons “Topless will give the fans a chance to see the drivers hard at work inside the cars and it might keep them a little cooler.”

RC Whitwell has dominated the Modified series at USA Raceway but several competitors are hot on his heels. Robert Adams, who sits second in UMP West Championship points, finished a close second to Whitwell at the last outing and is knocking on the door for his first 2009 victory.

USA Raceway is located east of Tucson off I-10 exit 268, then 1.6 miles south on Craycroft Road, which turns into Los Reales. For more information please, contact the track at 520-574-8515 or additional information regarding USA Raceway can be found at www.usaraceway.net
