Thank you for posting this - it brings back a lot of fine memories. I treasure all the Thursdays at IRP (before it got "beautified") - it was such a fun place to go & a great place to bring kids. Consider the first three finishers in that race & what different paths their lives and careers took...whatever happened to Andy Michner?

It does bring back tons of memories...Not sure where or what Michner is up to. He got screwed over by the Brant and Riley & Scott people. After that, I heard he was in Texas and racing a dirt late model. Its a shame he never made it all the way up into the top flight series. He was one of the top guys in USAC. I was there at Winchester when he pulled that Miraculous on Don Schilling for the win. Stewart, Michner, Irwin and Kalitta really were the ones to beat in USAC back then.

Looking forward to any comments, please chime in.

Why was the push truck driver only wearing shorts?? But seriously, the mid-90's were an amazing time to grow up around the Hoosier state. We had some greats like Irwin, Schilling, Stewart, Fox, Jones, Drinan, Gerster...and I was an Andy Michner kid myself. We had our other favorites like Tyce Carlson, Jack Runyon, Jeff Sands, Ken Nichols, the Hines boys, Perry Younce...and the list goes on and on. I agree with mom...er, uh, Liz...and miss the old IRP...it was heaven for a little race fan. Although I've grown to absolutely love the sprinters on dirt...those nights at Raceway Park will forever hold a place close to me.
