Tucson, AZ (July 5th, 2009) – Dane Jorgenson and Rick Ziehl celebrated American Independence in victory lane during the Firecracker weekend as USA Raceway celebrated the holiday with a two day double full of racing action and extraordinary firework shows.

Jorgenson topped Friday night action in the Southwest Border Wars opener by leading the final lap of the rain shortened UMP West Modifieds, Presented by Barnett Harley Davidson, feature event.

Johnny McCarty Sr. captured victory honors in the Factory Stock battle. McCarty bested a top notch field as they raced for the line in a 3 wide battle. McCarty crossed the line ahead of Buck Andrews and point leader Dusty Gauthier.

Jason Miller and Jason Pugliese came out on top in Hornet action. Miller took honors in the rear wheel division while Pugliese captured the front wheel drive victory.

Defending American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region champion Rick Ziehl snared his first series win of the year by topping Saturday night's 25-lap feature.

Ziehl raced forward from ninth to take the win aboard the Stafford Performance-powered Lucas Oil No. 20z Maxim, with Rickey Hood, Kyle Sager, Ben Gregg and Mike Martin rounding out the top five.

Martin, John Carney II and Jessica Van Dyke topped heat races for Saturday night's 29-car field, with Kaylene Verville winning the "B" Main.

Terry Benson grabbed the top spot in a very competitive Super Stock Feature. Benson captured his first victory at USA Raceway in only his third try taking the checkered flag in front of the dominate Marty Hussak who was followed by Kenny Gill.

RJ Johnson stood high on the podium as he captured the Arizona Midget Racing Association feature event. Johnson had the crowd on their feet as he passed Shannon McQueen on the final lap and made it stick for the win. McQueen had to settle for the runner up spot.

Joshua Shipley took his second consecutive win in Modified Midget action at USA Raceway. Shipley, who won the 1st Annual Piggly’s Modified Midget Open on the 1/5 mile, looked right at home on the 3/8 mile “super speedway”. Shipley also used a daring last lap pass on Dalten Gabbard to capture the win.

USA Raceway hosts Napa Auto Parts “Car Load Night” this Saturday July 11th. $10 per car will get you in for all the action as the UMP West Modifieds, Presented by Barnett Harley Davidson, headline with Factory Stocks, Dwarf Cars, AMA Modlites and Hornets. General admission gates open at 5pm, racing will begin promptly at 7pm.
