Now it's only two races, but it a start, and we'll take what we can get.

The first of 2 saturday night wingless super sportsman shows is coming up quick and with a new twist! Blazer's Body Shop and Williams Grove Speedway have put together a special points fund with cash rewards for the top ten in points for this 2 race series! The first race is scheduled for Saturday July 11th. This race will be a points handicapped show! All heat races will be lined up by normal saturday series handicapping rules! Points will awarded to both the season long points fund and the special Blazer's Body Shop / Williams Grove Speedway wingless racing series! Also on the card on the 11th will be the A.R.D.C. Midgets ( wingless of course ), and the popular 358 late models ( topless ). Then the second wingless show will be held on Saturday October 10th. Now this show will be an open draw for the super sportsman with points "only" being awarded to the special Blazer's Auto Body / Williams Grove Speedway wingless point fund! The top 10 in points from these 2 very special shows will recieve bonus money at the season ending awards banquet.

That sounds like fun. I hope I can make at least one of them. This show would be even better at Lincoln or Grandview.

Everyone in PA should know that, based on the 4-race USAC Midget Week, Steve Buckwalter is the real deal. He's not just a big fish in the small ARDC pond. He was very competitive in Indiana. With a little luck, he could have won a couple of those shows. He ran in the top five all week.

I must say it hurts a little to think of ARDC as a "small pond". When I was first following midgets in the 60s and 70s, ARDC was damned near equal to USAC. They had at least a dozen cars and drivers that were competitive anywhere. Then, they lost their spark, only to regain it when they took the wings off a while ago. They seem to be well on their way back to the top.

Dick let me know if you're coming out. I like to say hello.

Steve did a great job. I was rooting hard for him at the Berg and Kokomo!

I love to see USAC do a Midget Eastern Tour. With ARDC now pulling close to 30 cars per event I think it could be one heck of a tour with really good car counts!
