Friday night at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood, J.T. Stapp will hot lap the Bryan Robinson owned Sprint Car as a test for the upcoming SCORA Sprint Series Race on Friday July 3rd. If the fair board likes what they see the SCORA Series will be racing at the track on July 3rd along with the MTQRL T.Q. Midgets and the MMSA Mini-Sprints.

Besides J.T. testing tomorrow night there will be a full racing program of MTQRL T.Q. Midgets, which is there opener and the AMSA Mini-Sprints.

Hot Laps are at 6:30PM

If they run sprints on that track you will definitely see some "short" track racing.

Jake, I just hope it doesn't rain it out. MSCS ran its first race at Thunder Valley, and it was a good show, I don't know how the tracks compare in size, but JL said it were a blast, course they didn't try to start 20 either. Should be interesting, might work, and if it don't rain, I'll be there. Bob

osgood running sprintcars to me that is a accident waiting to happen...i dont believe the catch fence would stop a tq or mini sprint let alone a sprintcar...i know 2 years ago when they ran the tq's and mini sprints i was down there helping a buddy with his mini sprint and they were running some kind of enduro or demo cars and as we were leaving all the fire trucks and emts were heading to one of the houses located off turns 1and 2 and apparently from what we had heard later the throttle had hung on one of the cars and it ended up hitting one of the houses i am guessing if that happened in a sprintcar it might end up on the roof

If afraid I'm forced to agree - Osgood is one of my all time favorite TQ tracks and if I am off when the TQ's run there I never miss it - I love the atmosphere and the covered grandstand. My comments may be unfair because I think it has been two years since I have been there, and thus something may have changed, but if not there isn't a way in the world that fence could hold a sprint car which could go through it or over it. It's asking for it. I will admit that if it happened I would be tempted to go but I would have to find a spot where I felt safe.

Gotta agree with Pat and Jeff.

I'm pretty sure the front stretch fence is not much more then something a farmer would put along a road somewhere.

I think the SCORA officials really need to take a look at not only the front stretch fence but also the trees not far from the ends of turns 3 and 4. In a TQ they weren't that big of a concern but with a sprint they may be more dangerous out there.

If they don't fix the fence it will be a spooky place to watch a race.

This is a recipe for disaster.

I agree with the thoughts that have been expressed by others on this board. The only way that a sprint car race should ever take place is only if they make numerous improvements. It's been a few years since I've been to Osgood, so maybe they've made some changes. If not, like Jon said, it's a recipe for disaster. One thing that really hasn't been mentioned, but I thought of, is the pit area. I'm pretty sure there are only concrete barriers between the track and pit area. If this is correct, I could easily see a sprint car flying through the pit area.

There are numerous things that I could think of that should be fixed, if not already. I'm thinking that there's just too much to do to have it ready. Plus, with it being a fairgrounds, how easy would those improvements be approved?

With all this being said, I would love to see it happen, but only if things are right as far as safety is concerned.

Do you know if the SCORA officials have inspected the track before hand, or are they going to assess it before they allows JT to take laps?
