Open-wheel racing will return to the Indianapolis Speedrome this Sunday (May 3), with the national midgets -- co-sanctioned by the Rumble Series and Wolverine Outlaw Midget Series -- running a 50-lap feature. Modifieds, quarter midgets, karts and Jr. Sprints also are on the program.

Pit gates open at 10 a.m. and front gates at 11:30. Quarter midgets, karts and Jr. Sprints will run their preliminaries in the late morning and early afternoon. Practice for midgets and modifieds will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the first heat race scheduled for 5. Promoter Tony Barhorst aims to have the program over by 8.

This is the first of four events the Rumble Series is promoting at the Speedrome, which last hosted the midgets in 2005. The other dates are May 31 (midgets), July 19 (HOSS sprint cars and midgets) and Aug. 30 (HOSS sprint cars and UMRA TQ midgets). We'll hope you will be able to support the races.

For more information, visit www.rumbleseries.com, www.speedrome.com or e-mail Tony at tbracefest@aol.com.

Here is the preliminary entry list for the midgets (note the wide variety of chassis and engines!):

Also note that the VW powered cars have no minimum weight rule.

Another note of interest is American Racer Tires are allowed to compete with Hoosier.

Joe,

It won't be until after 2:00 P.M at least. You have plenty of time. Anyone that just wants to see midgets..can come in around 4 pm in time for practice.

One new thing we are doing is having split sessions. Fans can come to the pits ( kids allowed) for $10.00 until 4 pm.

They can elect to upgrade to a full pass (30.00) or go to the grandstand for $5.00 extra.

This will be a good chance to get autographs and visit the teams.

Best,
Tony Barhorst
