Twin Cities Raceway April 4th concerns...

I would like to thank Twin Cities Racway for the April 4th sprint race and paying extra money for sprint cars and Don Short of Indiana Stone Works!!!
However...I have a few concerns: I don't understand the reason to have 5 classes of cars...nor will I ever...when you have a special race (sprint cars) with a larger purse you only need 2-3 total classes. I think someone said Sprint cars would run first ALL night and it didn't happen...in fact the mini sprint feature had 23 laps of caution mixed in with their 20 lap feature that they ran FIRST... The most important concern: Track prep or the lack of...I arrived at 2PM on Saturday and was surprised to see the track had NOT been touched for the races on Saturday...you could see the erosion down the track from the latest rain...Track prep is that track prep not running around the track with a sheeps foot a few laps only a few hours for the racing starts...You get out of track prep what you put into it....example Bloomington, and Tri-State Speedways...I know everyone can't have all the nice John Deere equipment that Tom Helfrich has, and Mike Miles, at Bloomington Speedway does not either...He puts time into track prep and gives the racers and fans a good track week after week!...I understand the sun was out yesterday and it was warmer...I understand some work was done on the rough track conditions from the week prior, but I think a dry slick, dusty track in early April is very preventable!! I can see your points, But everybody Including Anderson cancelled for this weekend and TCRP ran. If he knew how much rain or how little Im sure he would have watered accordingly.
Just glad they got a race in. Chuck, Also wondering if the double features didn't have something to do with the running order. Im possitive it had to do with the running later as they run em off. Doesn't bother me the extra classes if they run em off. Quote:

I think the double features caused it to run late. But you can always get up and leave if its past your bed time.

Double features...It was dry slick in hot laps before the rained out features....
Also I think it rained Thursday PM and Friday AM...so why begin track prep Saturday at 3PM??? Just doesn't make sense! Should we just be happy with "Well, at least they got the race in" attitude? After all, we pay good money, gas money, etc...we all love sprint car racing, and after all....without us, the dedicated sprint car fans, why shouldn't we expect more?? SPD 37 |

Of course we all want the best possible track. Thats why I said I see your points. However He could have called it thrusday like a lot of others did. That my opinion. The worst night of racing is better than staying home to me. I had to do both due to working till 6pm then having to work today at 5am. The tracks 2hrs away ![]() Chuck

The change in rotation with starting Mini Sprints first was to ensure that the SPRINT consi cars had an ample amount of time to prepare their cars for the feature.

Ok, maybe I wasn't very clear....I should have said they should have ran the sprint feature (2nd one first) first before mini-sprints...at that point in the program there was plenty of time to get ready...after the Sprint B mains there was a street stock B main and only 4 sprint cars had to get ready after the two sprint B mains...sorry I wasn't very clear...

Track was terrible. There was obviously very little effort put into it. That's about all you can say...it's the same thing I saw the one time I went there last year. What gives?
