Anheuser-Busch today announced the 2009 season will be Budweiser’s last as official beer sponsor of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and as primary sponsor of Kenny Bernstein Racing and the Budweiser Top Fuel dragster.

Budweiser has sponsored the NHRA since the early 1980s and is celebrating its 30th season with Kenny Bernstein Racing. The Budweiser-Bernstein relationship is the longest running in motorsports history, eclipsing Scientifically Treated Petroleum’s (STP) 28-year sponsorship of Richard Petty in NASCAR. Kenny Bernstein Racing, one of the sport’s most consistent winners, aims to continue racing if new sponsorship is secured for 2010.

That shows you tough it is out there right now. If THAT sponsorship is ending, then any of them are on the table of ending.

On November 18, 2008 InBev, a Belgium company, completed a $52 billion Anheuser-Busch acquisition. Guess they have a better use for their advertising budget in the US.

On the St, Louis morning news today, they also said that the "Sprint Car" program was also dropping. I assume the are talking Nascar Sprint??

I don't understand the thought process that goes into some things. Companies like that are bought because of their "Brand Awareness" and customer goodwill and loyalty and then they start trying to "save" money by slashing the advertising budgets.

Obviously these are well funded companies that have had success, but they are stripping out the foundation that built the company. Foolish in my opinion.

InBev. Makers of Stella Artois. Or "Wife Beater" as it is called in the UK. A fairly popular working class beer across the pond.

Can Miller (SAB) and its South African owner be far behind?

That would probably be Kasey's car on the world of outlaws with Joey Saldana driving it.Do not worry ImBev is just starting to get warmed up on the cutbacks dealing at Bud and some of the actions they have taking in the corporate offices are just ruthless and disgusting.

Hand writing was on the wall when InBev made the purchase. This will eventually trickle down to sponsorships (track sponsorships) at the short tracks. Others will be there to step in on a beer deal. However, other local sponsors are having to pull out and not being replaced. That is having a serious affect.

Old news, I heard about this before the Chili Bowl. Remember people , Bud isn't an AMERICAN beer anymore. They get to send their profits overseas, so why should they worry about supporting events in the USA ?
