There's a press release in this week's Area Auto Racing News announcing that Daron Clayton is running a winged sprinter with the All Stars this year. I went to his web site. (http://www.daronclayton.com/) Sure enough, there's a roofed car on the home page.
Sad. |

Was he able to get a truck and trailer for the trip down south?

Seriously? :loser: :moon:
Daron in a winged sprintcar is a big loss to USAC and the fans who frequent those and local sprint car races in the midwest. The nickname "Modern Day Cowboy" stuck with him for a reason, he's a blast to watch and one of the several major losses to the Indy/USAC scene... I'm a fan, and shame on me, but I may even go to a wing race if there's one close to home to see him run... I feel like I should go wash my mouth out with soap now. |

Maybe usac should pay more and guys like this wouldnt be leaving??? just a thought... if you have the money to travel and race sprint cars wouldnt you want to go after what could pay the bills for you to race? Im not trying to bash USAC I am simply saying that there is not much of a comparison in payout and the travel is probably pretty close to the same. JMO
Oh and best of luck to daron on his trip south, hopefully he can run well and find that sponsorship for the reast of the season

zeroracer, you are 100% correct. The non wing shows pay dicksquat and other than trying to be a hero it seems pointless. Even when the economy was strong it didn't make any sense. It's why there are so many ride buyers/kids running USAC. They have expounded the back gate theory where only the players make money.
where did the sport go wrong???? |

Well, the way things are going with the allstars, he may not be there long. Also when it comes to the big money shows at Haubstadt, I wouldn't be surprised to see him there. If you race for money, you run where it is.

Bad for USAC. Good for me. I'll get to see him a few more times here in Ohio.
