Last night mostly due to a ton of rain. Eldora had a monster Cushion.
If you have FLo, Go back and watch it. Especially the second Feature.

WOW.

And on Saturday it went right back to the slick n slow Eldora of the last decade or so. Racing was pretty good thru the field but the slick n slow just exacerbates the aero issues that have virtually ruined modern late model racing on 1/2 miles. And predictably Jonathan Davenport won by 10 seconds. Dream & World 100 are their 2 biggest weekends & have easily become the most stale/predictable events of the season.

Of course the best guys win the most but when Eldora is prepped with the big boy cushion like Friday night it allows a few brave souls to really hang it out on the cushion & sometimes a lesser car can win cause of the speed of the cushion. The 2 features on Friday were the best racing there in many many years. Tore up some cars, but Eldora isn't supposed to be for the timid. Pretty much all the legendary moments there occurred on the cushion.

As soon as hotlaps started on Saturday I knew Davenport was winning. Track was blowing dust some & the cushion was all the way to the wall by the end of the heat races. He probably woulda won a heavy cushion race cause he's a hell of a driver but it'd been a lot more exciting to watch IMO.

What was there that's been missng the dive in turn one and go up and hit the cushion out of two too straighten you out like Kinser used all them years and a cushion out of four with a little grip like Haud used to use. Or the full cushion treatment that Blaney used. that made me never want to miss a race.

the slick to he wall. Pfft.
