Although it sounded like track conditions weren't very conducive to a lot of passing, it turned out to be an exciting race, anyway. Hockett and Spencer found a way to pass a lot of cars and The Demon very nearly ruined the story book ending, by almost snatching the victory away from Jones on the last lap. Good job by Sean and Dean. I appreciate you guys bringing the broadcast to us. And congrats to Tony for going out on top.

I will just have to wait and see the raceway video highlights of tonights action at Perris speedway the action is always great out there to bad we do not have a half mile back here that they can run on that much and have that many good shows.I always look forward to the weekly highlights they put up for our viewing pleasure back here in the midwest.

Socal Performance's Steve Howard handed Tony a check worth $2,500 for leading every lap of the Glenn Howard Memorial. Great show if your a Jones fan. He went out with class and a great victory. Steve Howard raised more than $30K for this important race honoring his father. Thanks for the many memories Tony and this win may have been the best of them all.

OK. I must be out of the loop? I seen on here saying TJ's "last" race at Perris. And " going out on top". Is Tony Jones not going to be racing next year,or what is he moving to? I didn't hear anything in regards to him quitting racing? I looked back several threads and don't see any rumblings in regards to him quitting ? OK,, So i need to get off of the porch, I know
Just curious. Thanks

Tony is retiring to spend Tim with his wife and children.

By the way, the check he received after the race for $2,500.00 was a bonus on top of the regular $2,500 to win a 30-lap USAC/CRA main event. In addition to that $5,000.00, he led every lap of the main. The leader received $180.00 for each lap. So, Tony pocketed an extra $5,400.00 in lap money.
