October 16th is a sad day in motorsports history. In 1977 we lost James McElreath at Winchester during the running of a USAC sprint car race. I was there for this sad occurrence.
In 2011 we lost Dan Wheldon in a crash during an IndyCar race. I was not there, but did witness it on live television.
Two young talented men gone too soon!😢
