HALL OF FAME CLASSIC CANCELLED DUE TO IMS QUALIFYING EXTENSION & THUNDERSTORM THREATS
Indianapolis, IN..........Tonight's TRAXXAS USAC "Hall of Fame" Silver Crown race at Lucas Oil Raceway has been cancelled due to the extended timetable of "Pole Day" qualifying events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the potential threats of thunderstorms in the area. USAC recognizes the historical significance of today's motorsports events and is disappointed to cancel this race but numerous participants in tonight's program, including the Hall of Fame ceremonies, are also involved at IMS and those ceremonies would have been severely impacted. Unstable weather in the midwest also has created thunderstorm possibilities for the area. Options for rescheduling are being discussed and will be announced when they become firm.
Blame it on the delay at IMS? Pretty sure qualifying will end at 6, as always, regardless of the delay, but I have been wrong once, maybe twice in my life lol.
They announced to teams to expect the fast 9 to happen from 630 to 8. Not making excuses as I'm about to blow a gasket about this. Piss poor planning on the track and USAC as far as I'm concerned.
If it were a Usac show and there was a two hour rain delay, they would just scrap qualifying and draw for position.. How cool would that be at the speedway? Maybe next year?
Just like running the Hoosier 100 on Thurs. nite. If they want to change the dates, why don't they go to the old format---run the 100 in Sept. on a sat., anf Terre Haute on Sun. Double irritant!!!!!
