I need to get a knee guard and am curios to hear what everyone else runs. I'm tall, about 6'3" and runnin a full KSE box. I have a Kirkey that cane with the car and it sucks. I like the dzus in J&J but don't know if it'll work. Also the rubber dipped style that hose clamp directly to the tubes. The Ultra-Shield is also nice but I have a full containment Butler.

I use the Kirkey, and don't need it much, I'm short and most flips won't get my knees into the box. The real damage I suffered in my worst wreck was the force of impact jarred my leg so bad that I herniated a disc in my back. So much more important than the knee guard is having seat belt mounting that holds your butt back and down in the seat. My buddy who is real tall just has a home made aluminum guard with no padding. My Kirkey has been cut up a bunch to make it fit the way I like it. I ran a midget with those rubber dipped ones and they seemed ok. If I were you I would just massage that Kirkey until it does the job. I hated mine for a long time and left it out of the car more often than I ran it. This season my crew chief would always make me put it in, so I finally did some work until I was happy with it.

Sounds like I have the same set up that you do. I had trouble getting down in the car with both of the clamp on pads, so I only used one. What I do have is the double leg brace support that you dzus in at the front of the seat. Out of the 4 times I have tested it this year, I only banged my knee once. Here's the link to that:

Last time I talked to Brian Butler, he said he had something new in mind for the knee guards, but I don't think it's ready yet. I will see him tomorrow, and I'll try to remember to ask.

For now i'm gonna work on the Kirkey and see what I can do with it. I have the Hooker ratchet belts so keepin my butt in the seat shouldn't be a problem. You can tighten that thing until your legs pop off. Thanks

My Butler does have the dzus in knee knocker that goes in between your legs but I wasn't confident that it alone would do the job. I like the J&J/Ultra Shield design but haven't seen one in person to see if it would work with the Butler since the RT side extends out further than the rest of the seat. I'm gonna mess with my Kirkey until I find something better. The Butler's are great people and have done so much personally and professionally to help keep us safe.
