OK I figured I would start a positive thread about the new L-Burg Speedway.

Which driver do you think the new configuration is going to benifit the most?

I think Matt Westfall will be the quickest to adapt and win several shows early in the season

Its going to be interesting to see who take the track by the horns.

Very interesting..... Could be one of many. May even see some new faces that have not ran the weekly shows in past years. Two new rookies I know of, Jason Soudrette ( last years AMSA Mini Sprint Champion), and Shawn Westerfeld (Jumping from karting) will be fun to watch. Shawn has been more or less unbeatable in the karts and Jason is a real stand on the gasser. Be fun watching them. As for the points championship, you just can't overlook Joss Moffatt, his progress in sprints really showed last year with consistant top five finishes.
Yes it should be very interesting.

I'm not sure what his plans are this season, but Brandon Petty would be my pick to kick a little tail on the new track!

My son is going to start driving AMSA Mini-Sprints on a limited basis this season. We live 15 minutes from Lawrenceburg.

What changes to the track do you think will have the biggest impact?

Also, will this track be a good place for him to race starting off or should I limit him to shorter tracks until he gets some experience?

This will be his 4th season racing quarter midgets and he has been very successful. I don't want to move him on too quickly but I don't want to hold him back either.

Thoughts....suggestions are appreciated.

Phil, the quarter mile was very fast for the TQ's and mini-sprints. This track has much higher banking and it's quite a bit bigger meaning that the speeds are going to be that much faster. There is also, now, a nice hard concrete wall. On the old track, if your kid made a mistake he would usually just run off the track and try to safely blend back into the traffic. Now, a mistake is likely to end up in the wall at a fairly high speed or, if he flips, the catch fence could through the car back in front of traffic. There is no doubt that these young kids have the hand-eye coordination to drive the car very fast (and they fear nothing at that age) but, as a father, the decicision you have to make is, at how much risk are you willing to place him while he is on his learning curve. Just some things a dad might want to think about. Whatever decision you make, I wish you guys the best of luck this year!!

I will second Matt Westfall being a front runner there. His ability to run the wall at Eldora will definitely keep him up front (if they even end up running the top). Moffatt will also be another consistent contender and has a pretty sweet ride ready for this years competition.

Anyone that has run Kokomo on a consistent basis will also do well in my opinion since many of their races were bang the wall over the cushion bashes!

Although I have VERY mixed feelings about the new track it's going to be interesting watching people adapt to the bigger track. I'm simply afraid that the local teams will not be able to afford the increased motor, tire, and component wear that this track will put on the cars. Also, when crashes take place they are going to be pretty hard hits.
