Anyone that can do updates from tonight's two-for-one Sprint Car show at Hartford? It would be most appreciated.

I'm not there but from what have heard there are 12 winged sprints and maybe 12 nw. Will post any updates I see. Looks like 2 IRA guys and some solid 410 locals for winged.

Neitzel wins. Lightening in the area. Pouring down rain after the finish. Updates came from Neitzels Twitter.

Congrats to both Neitzel and Gurley. I remember seeing Scotty win there in an IRA race about 12-13 years ago, or so.

With Gurley winning, maybe next time they run non-wing sprints we might get a few more Indiana/USAC guys showing up? His yellow 12 car sure had the horses last night.

The storm was a bad one, too. When it hit, it hit. I hope everyone made it out of the place okay. The big asphalt ramps down to the parking lot were getting slick.

On a sidebar, I found a poster from Hartford Speedway from back in 1996. It was one that was put in store windows showing the schedule. With respect to the IRA Sprints, they ran Hartford SIX times that year!

Here was the list of sprint dates from 1996. Note that the Open Sprints were all winged sprints events:

5/3 Open Sprints
5/10 WoO
5/17 IRA
5/24 SOD
5/31 Open Sprints
6/7 Open Sprints
6/14 IRA
6/21 Open Sprints
6/28 All Stars
7/3 Open Sprints
7/5 Open Midgets
7/6 Open Midgets
7/12 SOD
7/19 IRA
7/26 SOD
8/2 Open Sprints
8/9 SOD
8/16 Open Sprints
8/23 Open Sprints
8/30 IRA
8/31 IRA
9/6 All Stars
9/14 IRA
10/11 WoO
10/12 WoO

It is quite an eye opener going back 19 years and comparing things.

I'm very thankful for all the car and fan response for this being a show that was put together at the last minute. We did everything possible to shove the show along as fast as we could as the rain was inbound. All the drivers were wonderful to work with, but we have a bit to work on as a racetrack yet for us to get up to a Kokomo level of performance. #Goals

I do believe we will be hosting a few IRA races next year

That would really be nice if both parties could pull that off. The IRA used to run Hartford, I-96, and Butler pretty much every year. But over the past half dozen, or so, they have cut back to staying in Wisconsin with a trip once in a while to LaSalle. I cannot blame them. The economy kills things like traveling. It always amazed me the number of cars they would bring over in past years to run Hartford on a Friday Night. Not only taking off early from their day jobs, but navigating the Chicago area traffic. The latter alone would keep me home every time.
