Just saw on a couple of Facebook pages including 410 Wing sprint car driver Jason Meyers there was a horrible accident at the Marysville Speedway in California when a sprint car came off the track, the throttle hung crashed in the pits and hit a bunch of Spectators standing around accidently killing 2 of them.
Race was with the California Civil War 30 Winged Sprints.
Nothing on the tracks website yet but here is a link to the tracks website so you can read what happen if it's posted: http://www.mayrsvilleracewaypark.com
Check you racing sources to find more on this horrible tragedy. SAD Day for dirt racing. We all know the sport can be very dangerous and this proves it.
R.I.P. to those that where hurt in the tragedy.

For the midwest guys Marysville is a small 1/4 mile track in Nor Cal just south east of Chico. The race was a Civil War 360 race, I believe wing cars but not positive.

I was a KWS Official a few years ago and when we were there I noted that the track exit is at the end of the front stretch, as so many tracks are. There is only a small pit shack and about 100 feet or so before reaching trailers. If it is still the same.

Prayers go out to all parties involved....... Very Sad

Just posted by local Sacramento TV Station....

MARYSVILLE, CA - Two people were killed after a sprint car lost control at the Marysville Raceway Park Saturday evening.

An announcer at the track Steven Blakesley told ABC News the car, driven by Chase Johnson, had apparent mechanical problems and did not make the corner at turn 1. The car crashed into the left wall and then hit the two victims.

Blakesley said one of the victims is the driver's 14-year-old cousin and the other victim is the owner of a few cars in the race.

The crash happened during hot laps, which started at 6 p.m. The race was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Crowds were at the park for the California Sprint Car Civil War Series. Events at the raceway have been cancelled after the crash.

The 30 teams who entered in the race have donated their combined entrance fee of around $10,000 to the families of the victims, Blakesley told ABC News.

On its Facebook page, the Marysville Raceway Park posted, "Our thoughts and deepest prayers go out to everyone. Out of respect we will not elaborate on details. We ask everyone to respect each other and the families."

More information will be available soon
