I wanted Roth and Lazier to make the show. I really admire guys like Roth and Hemelgarn for putting these deals together for this race and in Roth's case, the season. I think Tony needs to make it easier for these small teams to participate. They make the month of May much more interesting.

Really enjoyable! But as Davey Hamilton said they need to change the format back to where they qualify more than eleven cars each day. The rain put the second weekend qualifiers at a big disadvantage.

Some real drama in those last minutes. I do think, however, that giving teams 3 chances each day to attempt a qualifying run is too much. I feel that two max on both pole day & bump day with one each the other two days is plenty. And I sure would have liked to see a better crowd today. But, as stated above, Bump Day is back!:applaud::thumb

while this format has it's disadvantages (ala Davey's comments), I like the fact that a team doesn't need to have two or three race cars in the garage. Letting these guys have a second or third chance in the same car saves the little guy a ton of money and gives them a much better chance to make the show.

With all the time, money and sweat that goes into the preperation for this event, 3 attempts per day per car is the least they should get. Just ask Greg Beck. I'm sure he would have loved to had a 4th bullet in the chamber to get her in the show, time permitting. But as it was, they wouldn't have had a chance to pull the trigger. Yes Dwight, It's sure is great to have Bump Day back finally. It was a stressful and exciting last hour in the qualifying line, as it should be. However, It sure is tough though to see the beat and defeated looks on the guys that have busted ars all month, rebuilding cars during all nighters, Tweaking every bit of speed, lap after lap, only to load up and go home....and in one case they will load her up on a dolly, and buckets of scrap. But, that is Indy, and part of what makes the Speedway everthing she is. Just ask anyone on Pit Lane today....Indy is still,"The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" Ken Joyce |

He might of wanted a 4th bullet but he neeeded more powder in it.
