From what I see the Wabash Valley Fair Board has taken over promotional duties for 2025. We will see how that works out.

From Hoseheads:

April 9, 2025

Terre Haute, Indiana (April 9, 2025)………The legendary Terre Haute Action Track is set to roar back to life for the 2025 season with its first race of the year this Sunday, April 13, ushering in a new era under the direction of the Wabash Valley Fair Association (WVFA).

Indiana’s only 1/2-mile dirt oval will host three USAC national events in 2025, starting Sunday, April 13 with the 21st running of the Sumar Classic 100-lap Silver Crown race. The USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship invades the Terre Haute dirt on Wednesday night, May 21, for the 55th annual Tony Hulman Classic. The USAC Sprint Cars return to Terre Haute on Thursday night, July 31, for the Don Smith Classic, part of the 38th annual NOS Energy Drink Indiana Sprint Week Presented by Honest Abe Roofing.

Advance tickets for all three events can be purchased now at www.ActionTrackTix.com.

After several years of inconsistent promotion, the WVFA – known for its dedication to community and motorsports – will now take the reins in promoting and managing the historic half-mile dirt oval.

Built in 1952 and nestled on the Vigo County Fairgrounds, the Terre Haute Action Track has been a cornerstone of Indiana dirt track racing for over 70 years. Throughout its storied history, it has played host to some of the sport’s greatest legends and unforgettable moments, earning its reputation as one of the most respected venues in the country.

This season marks a turning point for the track. In recent years, multiple promoters have struggled to maintain momentum and community trust. Now, the Wabash Valley Fair Association and its Board members, a not-for-profit organization, is stepping forward to manage the track directly. Their mission? To preserve and grow the legacy of Terre Haute Action Track while continuing to bring racing excitement—and economic investment—to the region.

“We believe in this track and what it means to our community,” said Brady Meadors, WVFA President. “It’s more than a race track; it’s a piece of Terre Haute’s identity. Though the financial challenges are real, we’re committed to keeping the lights on and the engines running.”

Supporting that mission is Honest Abe Roofing, the 2025 title sponsor. A proud Indiana-based company, Honest Abe Roofing brings both credibility and community spirit to the table. Their support underscores a shared commitment to local traditions, hard work, and lasting impact.

The first race of the season promises high-speed action, family fun, and a celebration of new beginnings. Fans can expect a full slate of events, talented drivers from across the country, and a refreshed sense of purpose at the track.

SUNDAY RACE DETAILS

The 21st running of the Sumar Classic features the USAC Silver Crown National Championship this Sunday, April 13, at the Terre Haute Action Track’s 1/2-mile dirt track in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Pits open at 2pm Eastern and grandstands open at 4pm with the drivers meeting at 4:15pm and cars on track at 5pm, followed immediately by qualifications and racing.

Advance tickets are on sale now at www.ActionTrackTix.com. Advance tickets are $30 for grandstand seating. Kids age 12 and under are free. General admission seats are not reserved and are on a first come basis. However, advance ticket holders will gain access through gates beginning 30 minutes prior to the published gate opening times.

Pit passes are $40. Grandstand seating is included as well as access to the controlled Pit Pass area. Signed waivers must be completed prior to access. Infield admission is $15, which allows for access to the grass infield of the Action Track through the tunnel at the far right (turn one side) of main grandstand.

Follow the Terre Haute Action Track on social media for updates, driver announcements, and more.*

Don Smith loved that place and the relationships it brought him.
Sadly he's been gone a few years now. (Former chair of FNBof TH.)

I had the great privilege to spend an afternoon with Don Smith once. By luck only, he was seated at our table at a HARF banquet once. Thats an afternoon I’ll not forget. What a personality and great guy!

Don Smith and my late FIL were friends in the Terre Haute business community. Don was more than a businessman and a race supporter. He was very civic minded and did a lot of things for not only racing, but the community that went unnoticed. His loss had far reaching impacts.
