Going through some garments here at the Hall of Fame and came across a vintage jacket, McNamara Spl. 73 with a USAC patch on the front. Anyone have some info?

I believe that was Lee Elkins' car. In the 70's Bill Puterbaugh often drove the car. Think it was a Leffler. I believe Mr. Elkins owned many cars before this with many different drivers

The McNamara Special did belong to Lee Elkins, McNamara Trucking was the business he owned. He had sprint cars and champ cars during the 50's but kind of dropped out during the 60's. He did make a comeback of sorts during the 70's and helped get Bill Puterbaugh into the 500.
Elkins had some of the best drivers behind the wheel of his cars during the 50's, including Mike Nazaruk, Andy Linden, Chuck Arnold, Bob Sweikert, Dick Rathmann. |
