5/23/16 10:56 AM ROA EYES PERRIS’ “SALUTE TO INDY” SATURDAY
http://usacracing.com/news/sprint-ca...-indy-saturday ![]() ROA EYES PERRIS’ “SALUTE TO INDY” SATURDAY Brody Roa has yet to lead a lap during USAC/CRA AMSOIL Sprint car competition at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. The current series point leader hopes to change all that in Saturday night’s “Salute to Indy.” Roa has an 18-point lead over Richard Vander Weerd in the latest standings and has finished third in both 2016 Perris features.* He also scored third-place finishes at “The PAS” in 2012 and 2015. Vander Weerd, on the other hand, has a second and a fourth this year and has led both Perris races. He has 136 career laps led at The PAS and has four Perris victories. Five-time series champion Mike Spencer has driven for three different teams in the series’ first three races of the 2016 season, yet has managed to have a steady campaign thus far, sitting third in the latest standings.* This weekend, Spencer moves into the seat of a car owned by Chris Gansen that he will be behind the wheel of for the remainder of the season.* Spencer trails Roa by just 29 points and his 715 career laps led at Perris are second only to Damion Gardner’s 864. Gardner has crept into the “top-five” in the standings, 50 behind the leader, after a slow start to this year’s season. He led 20 laps at The PAS April 16 before Josh Hodges snatched the victory on the final lap. Gardner has more Perris wins than anyone else in USAC/CRA history, totaling 37. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPCOMING USAC/CRA AMSOIL SPRINT CAR EVENTS: DATE: Saturday, May 28, 2016 SERIES: USAC/CRA AMSOIL Sprint Car Championship TRACK: Perris Auto Speedway (Perris, California) - 1/2 Mile, Semi-Banked Dirt Oval EVENT:"SALUTE TO INDY" featuring USAC/CRA AMSOIL Sprint Cars, PAS Senior Sprints, PAS Young Guns, and California Lightning Sprints. Hasn't Bud Kaeding won the Oval Nationals twice? If so, why is he listed as winning only 1 race at the PAS?
