SOUTHWEST SPRINTS RESUME AT CANYON SATURDAY

R.J. Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz. continues his pursuit of a second consecutive USAC Southwest Sprint Car championship this Saturday when the series returns to Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. for the 5th Annual “Canyon Clash.”

Johnson has been nothing short of spectacular the past two years, boosting his all-time Arizona USAC feature win total to 21. He has won the last three series features, including the March 28 “Hank Arnold Memorial” at Canyon and he enjoys a 37-point lead over Charles Davis Jr. in the latest series points.

Nobody has won four straight Arizona features since Johnson did it in April and May of 2013. On his way to last year’s title Johnson strung together four straight Southwest features in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
