Hi all,I'm running a Gaerte -12 engine in my midget. I am on a tight budget and would like to do the basic engine work myself. Can anyone tell me, are all the specs and bolt tensions etc the same as rebuilding a sbc? As in I can pull the mains and big end caps to check or replace the bearings and it'll be the same bearing clearances and torque specs as doing a small block V8?
Thanks in advance Stew

The rods will torque to whatever the rob bolt manufacturer specs are, arp 3/8" etc. not sure on the other items, I would imagine the headbolts/studs would be the same as sbc though

Yeah thanks guys,I was thinking along similar lines,I jumped onto the brodix site for head torque specs and whatever else I could find. I know they are an older engine now but there is still plenty running around but to find out any general info seems to a dark secret?! Lol
She is a good little engine, it's got Ti rods and all the goodies in it and after 18 years out of the drivers seat what a difference compared to my old 2lt Toyota twincam from the early 90's! Lol

Thanks badcoupe, it was unbelievable strapping after so many years and the horsepower was mind blowing lol. Now to get some quality bars and springs in it so I can actually drive it in to corners without falling over the right front and I'll be happy as a pig in mud!
