Looking for Tuner

My car is almost done and I'm looking for a preferred Dyno shop. It's a 06' R1 with Rosson Alky Injection if that helps. Looking to be ready before July 26th. Thank you in advance for any help.

We never use on of them "DYNO" things. If you have the injection and the add on box that was mapped for that injection you should be pretty darned close. We have even run stock maps and ecm's and adjusted mixture with fuel pressure and seems to do pretty good. My advice to you would be to get the car running and to the race track and start working on seat time in the car. The dyno is in fact probably just a little Bull, giving the person who has received the service bragging right about how much Horsepower they got out of their motor. We motor around them DYNO CARS all the time. If you are just starting out that old R1 is going to have more power than you can use anyhow. Get your feet wet and then decide what you need to do next. I would put my money on shocks bars and tires. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]() |

Dad I'm pretty sure a couple cars that spent time on the dyno last winter getting things right are putting it to you every weekend.

They have been starting up front and staying there, we however start back in the pack and must pass cars to get to them, luck of the draw don't you know. Does make for more fun for the fans, we get in front of them ever once in a while too, and that is fun for us. Did you here about that #31 car that started 19th last week at Columbus and finished right behind Collen in the Main. Passing many of those Dyno tuned cars in the process. It was just a stock gsxr 1000 with a mild tune. I enjoy beating the Ambrose Brothers much more than I enjoy beating your Beautifully Machined Air Cleaners. Are you wanting to start slinging POO again. Honest Dad himself ![]() ![]()

When someone asks a specific question it would be much more helpful if your going to answer to simply give them a straight answer instead of the hocus pocas BS.

Tuning does help and it is advised and Monty I'm sure your product is worthy and I'm sure it's a advantage, I'm sure it's worth the money... but the Ambrose's (Ronnie, Lynn, and Collin) had won over 300 races before you came along. They are most likely the most winning family in the history of our cars. Even in my older age I still look up to Lynn like i did as a little kid. They guys can drive.

I'm just looking to protect my investment in the r1. I never heard back from Rosson after several attempts to verify the juice box settings so instead of melting an engine down, I see it being money well spent this time around. My old oil cooled ran like a beast until it blew and that could've been avoided pretty easy if the fuel settings were right. First time getting up on the wheel and giving a thorough whooping made that issue appear outta nowhere. Taught me to not get mad behind the wheel too.....😉

The little Yamaha R-1 is a very good choice for a Mini-Sprint Race car right off of the bike. Allan Ruppenthal recognized this several years ago. Had not the R-1 came along Mini-Sprints would be extinct today. This motor right off the bike in the hands of a good driver is capable of winning or running up front just the way it was removed. That was and is its big selling point.
The Ambrose Boys have raced with stock R-1 motors for a long time. Allan's Idea was if he could build a race car and power it with the R-1 motor he could sell a bunch of cars and you know what he did. Most Mini-Sprint racers are new to the sport of racing. They all have ambitions of winning or they would not be racing. We are entry level racing and because of this we sometimes don't know where or how to spend our racing dollars. Without a doubt Mac builds a beautiful air cleaner, with out a doubt there are some very good dyno people out there that can smooth out the curves a little. My point is a racer is not going to come from riding a sand rail out in the dessert and buy a Mini -Sprint, Bolt on a Mc Performance air box get a custom Dyno Tune and beat the Ambrose Brothers or for that matter they aren't even going to beat us. There are people out there selling hopes and dream that all you have to do is put this on or do this and you will be invincible. To win in any form of auto racing you need seat time seat time seat time and then set up strategies. You can buy the later but the seat time is just what it is. Some people catch on right away some people take a little longer and some people never do figure it out. We pay lip service to idea that Mini-Sprints should be inexpensive, and the car that Allan envisioned was and is economical. When a racer starts racing and finds out how expensive racing really is and sees little results we end up with another car in the classified section of IOW. For a racer starting out the performance of the car handling is much more important than the Horsepower of the motor. An old racing saying goes like this "A good handling race car can make a chump look like a champ, and a poor handling race car can make a champ look like a chump." Keep your motors stock as you can, put a fan on your radiator, run your alternator, and go out and have fun and get some seat time. A good chassis, shocks, bars and tires will go much further in making a young racer successful than any amount of motor work. Spend your money wisely, unless you are wanting to turn that Large Fortune into a Small Fortune and if that is your desire Mini-Sprints is not what you are seeking what you need is a Midget it does it so much faster.
