Two of our new writers have stuff on offer today. The first is from Jaryd Chambers, who gives some insight on being a crew member for a low-budget sprint car team in this day and age (probably sounds pretty familiar to you who done it back in the day as well) and he says he hopes to make a series out of it.

The second is from Derek Fisher, who has a controversial viewpoint on one of the most popular sprint car racers out there. I know this will get the blood pumping for some, and might validate the thoughts of others. Either way, fun to read and discuss.

This is the stuff that I enjoy and I am sure you can expect more in the future. Remember, you can get involved in writing stuff like this as well! I think articles like these are good for sprint car racing. What do you think?

Enjoyed them both, especially Jaryd's. I really enjoy the behind the scenes perspective.

As for Derek, I was a big fan of his dad. The #79 is iconic to me and a drivers helmet close to the cage immediately conjures flashbacks of his greatness.
If memory serves me, his uncle Scott driving for Dave Cubel held off Vogler after a late yellow for a USAC heat race win at Kokomo. What a great moment for the "local guys".
Now that I've spoken kindly, Derek, I've given RaceGal your home address and license plate number...

J/k of course.

If that is the best critique of DD. The world is ending soon! Lol. C'mon Dave pull over for these young hot shoes and eat their rrs. Uhmm, or you can race with respect and precision and longevity....duh...still winning. I thought that was what*champions do. Throw "The People's Champ" in there for humor. Please! But from this peeps, winning is winning. Racing rewards the fastest. From this bleacher, Dave and a few others have done it cleanly, around 95% of the circumferences they have made. Can't ask much more from a champ! If we ask 100% from the kid that beats Dave's soon to be record (35 yrs from now). Would that be fair? Maybe racing will evolve by then into cleanliness and not so much reward for being P1.
