Midgets Set For Montpelier Motor Speedway This Saturday, May 17

The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget series will look to host its second Midget event of the season with a May 17th appearance at the newly remodeled East Central Indiana bullring. The Leaders Edge of Indianapolis is the presenting title sponsor for the Midget series.

The event will feature the Montpelier’s Midget Series which features full size Midgets and power plants and allows a platform for other engines including Focus, Ecotech, and Motorcycle powered entries to compete utilizing an unlimited weight break and additional tire width. The Montpelier Motor Speedway Midget Series features an open tire brand and compound rule..

2012 Midget Series Champion, Lynsey Liguori (Liguori #6RR), won the opening night program in a slug fest with Tate Martz (Steele #2), Nick Lucas (#10 Moore), and Isaac Chapple (Chapple #52). Martz led the first 19 circuits while enduring heavy pressure from Lucas, Liguori, and Chapple. The heavy battle continued off of the final corner of the feature with Liguori grabbing the lead by inches from the trio at the finish line. With the win, Ligouri became just the 2nd repeat winner in the history of the series joining Shane Hollingsworth as the only other repeat winner.

General Admission will be a great value for fans at only $12 with Kids (12 and Under) - FREE!

Race Update for May 17th

We are currently monitoring the weather for the May 17th program at the Montpelier Motor Speedway. The facility is still wet in several key areas including parts of the pits and fan parking. We are waiting to see what the afternoon and overnight hours brings in terms of drying these areas out.

We plan to make announcement once we know 100% the status of tomorrow's program as soon as possible so teams and fans can make plans. The status will be announced on our Facebook page, website, and through our texting service (visit www.MontpelierMotorSpeedway.com to sign up) by early tomorrow morning at the latest.

Also, thanks to Greg Watson for his sponsorship of the $50 Bonus to the highest finishing Focus, Ecotec, USAC Ignite legal Honda or Mini in the May 17th feature With a 20 cars or more field, the top sportsman car will make at least $200, with no entry fee (once Montpelier's one-time licensing fee has been paid).

Hoping for the best; I'm itching to get back out to see if I can press the button a little harder, maybe try to keep Alex from putting his Dad's Fifty back in the family racing fund...

If I get a call before its posted I will let everyone know what I hear as well..I want to be optimistic..but its kinda hard when its 42 degrees cloudy and not a lot of wind..Hopefully Harold can work some magic and get this show in though.

Jim, the $50 is up for grabs......Alex is graduating from Miami U. Saturday night and mom says that comes first, so we won't be there. Good luck to the Chain Gang and all the midget racers, hope the rain stays away and everyone can have some fun.

Congratulations to Alex; if I win the Fifty (hah) I'll buy him a cold drink at the next race.
