Lived through losing Warsaw, in about 20 years ago. People are still saying "wish the track was still there for my kids to go". Every time my mom got questioned about racing, she would ask if those people knew where their kids were most evenings and sat night.
I also coached for years. The local football field is over your limit and the announcer at the little league park is also.
People look only far enough to see what they want to see.

My grandpa had horses on 5 acres with no neighbors He was just outside of the city limits He had a couple of farmers come by every week and empty the manure pit so no smell people stated moving around him and he started hearing the horses smell the horses scare my family He soon was taken to court where the judge asked neighbors if they knew the horses were there they said yes they knew Judge said then why did you build there and threw case out That is what should happen there

If you've ever been to the track it is on the opposite side of I-70 from where the complaints are coming from. It's at least 2 to 3 miles away and there's train tracks, a country bar, a trucking company with dump trucks, an airport, and an interstate between the two. When the track opened the city set the db level at 65 which is completely impossible to meet. It's the equivalent of a normal conversation. The orig mayor and track owner that settled on that number didn't think it'd ever become a problem and now it has. The current owner has fought to change it to a realistic number. The residents say no and that since the track exceeds the 65 db it needs to be shut down. I believe the article says Knoxville is set at 111 and its downtown. It's ridiculous. If Valley closes there's about 30 non wing cars without a race track. The only options are the 3.5 to 4 hour drive to the next closest bi-weekly non wing track or run the local touring series which arent options for some, myself included.

I've got to think that the 65db limit was a typo in the original permit and that it was supposed to say 95db....I mean come on, my dad snores louder than 65db.

I agree. It's been said that they might've looked up a db rule from a home owners association, probably from Darlands car owners neighborhood. Everyone knows its completely stupid and unrealistic. The most ridiculous part is that several years ago a professional was hired to survey the sound level from all over the city while cars were on the track, including the complaining residents, and they were within the rules per the permit. Now somehow it no longer is and the committee that was assembled to study the problem and come up with a resolution is comprised of members all selected by the city. Not one from the track. Sounds like some home cookin to me.

Don't hate! It must really suck to be her, that miserable all the time. People like her are never happy and don't want anyone else to be happy.
