410 Non-Wing Sprints - $1,500 to win
Track will be using Gas City Speedway & Kokomo Speedway rules for that evening.
Per the tracks Facebook page.
Just a question. Being Plymouth is a Saturday night track, where would your car count and fans come from? In this region you have 5 track running traditional sprints on Saturday night not counting any special shows. Clay County, Lincoln Park, Paragon, Lawrenceburg and Waynesfield currently have successful traditional sprint weekly shows.
Can't wait to see the non wing sprints there on the big track. I have went there alot this year and seen the track go from a rough plowed field to a hard slick dry surface. When it was rough they tore alot of equipment up. Now they have a good hard base it think they need to backup a little bit to get some moisture in it. I have seen Larry Kemp there this year, but i heard from a track worker yesterday that Bob Sargent was going to lend a hand with some track prep. We all know that Sarg is the master... I know you can't have a perfect track every night but in all my years I have not seen a crew try to get it right and not give up like the crew at Plymouth. Hang in there guys you will get it and i am glad to see the true racers and fans support it. Also bought my tickets online to see Smoke run the Bob Newton Hoosier Tire Classic on Aug 17th. S.O.D winged sprints.
I think Saturday nights would work. I know there are already several tracks running Saturday, but none of them are in the northern part of the state. I can think of several teams from north of Indy who do not currently race or rarely race on Saturday. There could be several more regulars from Michigan as well. Warsaw Speedway had a weekly sprint show for years, and I believe all of the southern tracks were running at that time also.
Sunday is out. Kokomo is the only one that can make that work and it's less than 65 miles away.
South Bend and Ft. Wayne are well populated for drawing a crowd. I don't know about car counts but it would a lot closer for us in Michigan to drive to.
Don't know if it would work but as a fan of both it would be cool to see a track rotate Late Models & 410 Non-Wing Sprints and maybe even full size Migets when Montpelier isn't running them every other week or every 3 weeks. Just something to think about.
I think it would be good to run specials through out the year next year. There General manager Mike, said that Bob Sargent was coming in tomorrow to help them with the track. I am just glad we have a dirt track back in Northern Indiana..
I know most of you will disagree but a Sat Winged show that paid a little more than the rest (it wouldnt take much)$1500 to win $250 to start from 13th or 14th on back would go over great. The non wing deal is over saturated but a decent paying wing show would draw a lot of non winged guys to run with them and they would still draw cars from Illinois and Michigan. It would also give the fans something different. I wouldnt worry about what any other track is or was doing let them do their thing but I would want to be different.. These guys can and will make it work no matter what they choose to do. They have come a long way from the start of the year. Best of luck to them..
