PRI Sprint & Midget Classic Takes One-Year Hiatus

LAGUNA BEACH, CA (July 3, 2008) – The PRI Trade Show’s annual Friday night tradition of an exciting evening of racing at the PRI Sprint & Midget Classic will be postponed for one year as the event undergoes a major renovation in anticipation of its return to the PRI calendar of events in 2009.

“We’re currently working on plans to make the event even bigger and better, but we need more time to put everything in place. We will start promoting the events at the 2008 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, as we still have a lot of details yet to be worked out with regard to big changes in the race program,” said Steve Lewis, PRI Trade Show producer and the race’s organizer.

The PRI Trade Show is the world’s largest racing trade show, and is being held December 11-13, 2008, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The Show features exhibits by 1,450 companies, with over 45,000 racing industry entrepreneurs in attendance from more than 50 countries.

For three years, thousands of members of the racing industry have packed Orlando Speedworld to enjoy the wild, wheel-to-wheel racing action of the PRI Sprint & Midget Classic. Many were transported to the race via the Show’s complimentary shuttle bus system.

“It has been a great night for all of us, and we’ll miss it this year,” added Lewis. “We’re going to retool it, possibly with a new location, and bring back an expanded event with more thrilling elements to the schedule.”

Weekend of PRI, they usually have a big $10K crate late model race at East Bay that draws a lot of the big names.

Perhaps they could get on board with that show. I'd say that would be a step in the right direction for a more competitive show.

I wish they would move the PRI show back to Indy. Maybe have a midget race in the new Lucas oil Colts stadium. JMO

If Steve Lewis wants to keep it on pavement, as I suspect, how about USA Int'l? A 3/4 mile where they could have the Silver Crown join the sprints and midgets. Tremendous racing facility with ample seating. Throw in the ISMA supers and you've got a Copper World type event.
