Sure is going to suck without tuning into these 2 shows on Sunday nights. Has been a ritual in my house for a few years now. Even cut a few successful fishing trips short on Sunday afternoons to get home early enough to catch a few stories and eye candy. Neat seeing the picture of Jeff Gordon holding Kyle Larson as a lil guy on Wind Tunnel tonite. Hope the wait for a similar show to show up somewhere is not long. Who knows, may be something on MavTv in the future?
I am really going to miss Despain's show. IMHO he was about the best of the racing mainstream journalist out there and was pushed to the wayside for the WWE of racing. Sad to see. Really wonder with the new media out there if he can't come up with a good podcast program.
Haven't watched either program in at least 2 years. They became to NASCAR centric and I could care less about anything NASCAR related. Maybe if NBCSN gets their act together they can pick Dave up like they picked up the F1 broadcast team (Bob Varsha is strongly rumored to be going there) they will pickup Dave and join him with Robin Miller for a motorsports show on Sunday nights all year long.
I kind of gave up on Speed Center...I would pretty much only watch it if I wasn't doing anything else. 45 minutes of it was Nascar....they already had enough Nascar shows...seems like sprint cars only got coverage when there was a wreck they wanted to show.
I will miss Wind Tunnel though. I probably saw 95% of the episodes. I remember when it was on every night of the week. I thought they did a pretty good job of covering everything and having guests on from all forms of racing. NBCSN will have pretty much all the mainstream motorsports on their air so I could see them doing something. I'd like to see something like RPM 2 Night come back...that was a good show on ESPN 2.
I'm going to miss both show's. I guess Speed thought there was just not enough interest to cover Sprint car racing. I say bring back Thursday night thunder and have both asphalt and dirt. I'm going to try and boycott fox sports one. The reason I say try because if it's the only channel covering racing I'm not sure I CAN DO IT. LOL
Two great shows that became NAPCARized the past few years. All NAPCAR on Speed Center and NO fan calls on WindTunnel. I am sure some obscure channel will pick up some racing show programming and make us pay a premium to watch it. Our last best hope would be NBC Sports Network is clever enough to pick up the on air talent and develop programming that covers the "ladder" series that feed F-1, IndyCar, and NAPCAR in a dirt cheap acquisition market. Maybe a few shows covering midget and sprint car racing to show where most of the fan favorites in NAPCAR honed their talents.
RIP Wind Tunnel,I've been a fan since Day 1...I'm gonna miss Robin Miller and his opinions about USAC Dirt Racing. The guy really knows his chit...I'll be paying for another channel I won't watch on DISH Network. I don't have MavTv or NBCSN so I guess I'm SOL!..
There is always room for one more in the corner! I'm disguised as a responsible adult!...
