Anderson, IN — (May 22, 2013) — One of the most heralded rookie classes ever for the Pay Less Little 500 history was reduced by one after Wednesday’s practice session. Jerry Coons, Jr. experienced engine issues with his Gene Nolan owned entry and has withdrawn from the event. Coons indicated he was looking forward to running the Little 500 this year and hopes to have another shot to run for rookie of the year and the victory in 2014. |

Thanks guys. Unfortunately with the V6, it would be difficult to get a V8 in and ready to qualify. I want to thank Gene Nolan and his crew for giving me the opportunity to run The Little 500. The car was very fast in practice as were his other 2 cars. I haven't been around Gene much before driving for him. What a great guy and a pleasure to drive for. Hopefully we can give it another shot next year. Just gonna raise the bar as the oldest rookie.
