Over the last year or so, I’ve posted a few tongue in cheek monologues that hopefully entertained at least a few of you. But now I need help from some of you.

If you’ve followed my ramblings, you know that after I destroyed my car in 2011, my friends, Chad Delagrange, Jim Payne and I formed a partnership, called PDP Racing so we could all continue racing. We have a Dynamite pavement car and a Maxim dirt car. And even though we operate on a tight budget, we have a lot of fun.

And anyone that knows me personally knows my passion for the Little 500. It’s a race I fell in love with back in the 70’s when I first attended it as a young boy. I’ve been able to drive in the race twice and both times I loved it. I am proud to say I made the 2011 field which was the fasted field in history. Unfortunately an accident ended our night early. But I still wouldn’t have traded it for the world.

Here’s where all of you come in. We just don’t have the money to make an attempt for the race this year. And I really want to run it. Even though the Little 500 is a very well paying race, it’s also an expensive race to run. You get there on Tuesday to start practice and are there until Saturday night. So in addition to the normal tires, fuel, and wear and tear on the car, you also have several days of food and hotel bills. So we are asking for sponsor dollars. Our goal is $2000 to run the race. Now we don’t expect (although it would be nice) for one person to write us a check. But for as little as five dollars, we’ll put your name (or business) on the car (or cars if you’d rather it went on the dirt car). As always, the bigger the check, the bigger your name. People or businesses are free to send us whatever decals or graphics they want. As long as they fit in the space provided.

I’ll also put this out there, anyone who sponsors us for the Little 500, will be on there for the year. So that means at least 15 (but hopefully around 20) other pavement races that people will see your name. We also plan to run about 10 non-winged dirt races. Also, the Little 500 is televised through the Must See Racing Series.

Also, if we fail to raise enough money to make an attempt to qualify for the race, all money will be returned.

On another note, if we raise enough money, we will need help in the pits for at least Tuesday and Wednesday. You are definitely welcome to help the rest of the week also. You don’t need any special skills, just be able to drive an ATV.

You all have my utmost apologies. I just realized I spelled “Your” wrong in the title of this thread. I realize that doesn’t look good when you’re out begging for money. And I found that you cannot (or at least I couldn’t figure out how to) edit the title of a thread. I assure you, normally I am a lot more diligent then that.

And this should not be looked at a clever marketing ploy to bring this thread back to the top without just “bumping “it! I am certain I’m just not that smart.

For those of you that don't know, what Nick is talking about here is that MTS (Michigan Traditional Sprints) for the last few years has had a race on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend at Crystal Speedway in Crystal, Michigan. It is just north east of Grand Rapids about 1-1/2 hours.

In 2011, the last year we ran the 500, we had the dirt car loaded in the trailer where after the 500 we were going to drive up I-69 to Chad's, sleep, then hop in the other truck and head to Michigan.

Unfortunately, the 500 got rained out and ran on Sunday instead. So we didn't make Crystal.

This year, we haven't decided yet what we will do.

I was hoping to regale everyone this morning on how well we ran this weekend. I had planned to run non winged up at Spartan Speedway in Michigan and run the winged HOSS race at Baer Field in Fort Wayne.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas. We were rained out both nights.

We are still trying to raise the funds to run the Little 500. Everyone has been great and we have raised a little over $600. Plus a couple of others that said they would help, but have not said how much yet.

We would appreciate anything we can get. Like I said, even $5 is something. We need to make our decision one week from today (May 19th) as practice starts on Tuesday, May 21st.

We will be racing Spartan speedway this Friday and a special non winged race at Angola (IN) Speedway on Saturday. Hope to see you there!

Well, we are a bit short of our goal. But a good weekend at Spartan Speedway (6th in the feature) and Angola (won the heat, 4th in the feature) gave us some confidence. Even though they were short fields, the car preformed well and helped me shake the cobwebs off.

So we have decided to make the trip down to Anderson for the Little 500. I thank everyone that has helped, but money will still be tight. We will be eating bologna sandwiches all week, but I have made a promise to the crew. We make the field; I will buy a jar of mustard! A top 20 finish, everyone gets a White Castle Hamburger. Top fifteen, they get 2 White Castles! Top ten, they get fries. Top five; well let’s just say we probably won’t be making the drive home!
