I hear that Jerry Coons Jr. won the Barry Buttersworth memorial race in New Zealand tonight.

In the Australian midget Title in Western Australia Casey Shuman finished 3rd behind winner Neville Lance and Darryl Claydon with Alex Bright finishing 4th.

Davey Ray,the current Australia 1 midget champion until tonights race wasnt allowed to race,as he hadnt met the requirement of racing 3 times before the championshp event in between the Title,which I understand it to be in a bit of a gray area on that call.

Hi everybody,

Just got home from the races it's 4.00AM here, Jerry did a fantastic job for the Wendys team tonight on a track 180 degrees opposite from last meeting, with a drivey top and bottom. With this race, the drivers self-handicap by picking who will start directly in front of them in the line-up, all beginning with the defending race winner. So Jerry was picked first and came from grid 19 to take home the spoils. It was a tough 40 laps, with a lot of fast cars crashing out or getting caught up in other people's mess. Darland and Pickens looked good early on but both were ultimately DNF's. Jerry drove clean and fast and got to the point after about 15 or so laps, then was never seriously challenged for the win. Brad Mosen made it interesting with 5 to go, then in victory lane we heard from Jerry that the car blew the pressure line on the power steer box! Just made it all the more impressive, and thrilled to win two in a row for the Coons family. The video highlights are available already on the western springs homepage here.
