Kevin Montgomery PEORIA, Ariz. (December 9th, 2012) - With the 2013 racing season just around the corner and Canyon Speedway quickly becoming one of the nations premier short tracks, an exciting 2013 race schedule has been released.

While nearly 30 events grace the 2013 schedule one would think it may be hard to top the 2012 season! With great optimism CSP has created a 2013 schedule that may do just that! With the cooperation of neighboring tracks, the level of competition will be at an all time high making for extreme excitement race fans will not want to miss.

The 2013 Winter Challenge will kick off the year featuring top traditional Sprint Car drivers from around the country as the newly formed USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series faces off with the USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series while IMCA Modified aces converge in the valley of the sun for what is anticipated to be one of the largest racing events of 2013. Race fans can mark their calendar for one of the hottest events of the year as the best of the best in Wingless Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds tackle Canyon Speedway’s 1/3-mile clay oval for six races over the course of nine days on January 25th, 26th, 27th, 30th February 1st, and 2nd. The ever popular Pure Stocks and Mini Sprints will join the field for five of the six winter events making the Winter Challenge a must see for 2013.

The return of the USAC Copper on Dirt is next on the agenda and will ignite the 2013 Championship Season for the USAC-CRA Sprint Car Series, USAC Western States Midgets, West Coast Late Models and IMCA Modifieds. The March two day event will feature top Sprint Car and Midget drivers from across the country joining the stars of the Super Late Model and Modified ranks marking the first time all four premier divisions will take center stage in one spectacular event.

After a short break in action, the traditional Sprint Cars of the USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series will put the thrilling championship season into full swing on March 16th as Charles Davis Jr. and Jeremy Sherman race for their 6th Sprint Car title. The “CSP Season Opener” will also kick off the point chase for Canyon Speedway’s Challenge Cup Sprint Car Series, Mini Sprints and Southwest Modlites.

While Arizona State IMCA Modified Champion hopefuls will have the opportunity to kick off the points season during the Winter Challenge, it will be Cody Center set to defend the CSP Crown at the Copper on Dirt in March.

The 2013 season will wind down with several events on tap starting in September when the West Coast Late Models return to take on the Southwest Late Models in the “Mr. Excitement 40”, A Tribute to Terry Belcher, a spectacular two day event followed by The USAC Grudge Series’ “Brawl For It All” on September 28th, just a week later.

The USAC National Sprint Car Stars will be on deck at the end of October for the 13th Annual USAC Hall of Fame Classic while the IMCA Modified stars will battle for $5,000 to win in the 25th Anniversary of The Desert Classic the following week.

The grand finale of a spectacular season will be capped off by the three day 46th Annual USAC Western World Championships featuring top traditional sprint car stars going for $7,500 to Win and USAC National Midget stars also hoping to grab hold of $7,500 with a $5,000 bonus for any driver able to top the podium in both divisions.
