****DATELINE East Alton,Illinois USA****
Three time and defending Indiana Open Wheel Unofficial "Missing fan of the year" Randy Mortland, better known to us all in person simply as "Morty" will be heading into work as the Fire Chief for the East Alton Fire Department for the last time today. Official retirement date is November 1st.
Congrats Morty !!
This was Mortys "Hero Card" many years ago,and rumor has it that it laid the foundation for the band Nickelback for their song "Rockstar" !!
Congratulations Morty! Now you and our resident mailman along with all of the other retirees on here have no excuse to not be at the races. Hope to see you this weekend at the Gold Crown. Great picture by the way.
Mike
Be nice to people on the way up. You might need them on the way down. Jimmy Durante
This must be really big news in the area. The Telegraph is a newspaper that bird cage owners, along with hampster and gerbil owners are always on the lookout for in the area.
Last year when I was over for the Gold Crown I picked up a paper to read with the morning coffee, and the headline that day was "Police vow to run down jaywalkers" Another time I got the paper and the headline that day was " Possible peephole found in local high school girls locker room. Police are looking into it"
Morty, have a long and happy retirement. It's
definitely the BEST job that I have ever had.
Maybe we will see you Wednesdays at the FBI
(Fat Boys of Illinois) lunches?
Should you accidentally wander into the sprint car pits at the "Gold Crown"
please stop by Seiler's hauler. He got another one put together just in time.
